Why is it so hard?

To find a guild where grouping together for all content is the main goal. Most guilds (and Ive been in some of the most popular and largest) all solo and use guild chat as a fancy social network.
Do people not realize when you group you get more XP, and better chance at drops? How many BAM quest lines have you foregone because you couldnt find anyone to do them ?
Why is everyone so hell bent on soloing? Ive contacted and tried to add people 10 feet away from me killing the same mobs to group and been turned down. I really detest soloing. It's boring.
I would really like to find a guild that would do this. Im on Celestial Hills. I have characters in the mid 30s to lower 40s. Heck Im not even adverse to starting a new character and running up with a guild.
But this solo solo solo crap is moronic and is killing this genre of game.

Unless you're talking XPS (xp per second), this is false. You're actually penalized for grouping, the exp per mob you get is less (-50%+20%, which leaves you with -30% if you are duoing). That thing they promote about getting more exp if you group = false advertisement.

I agree with soloing getting dull. However I think what you're finding to be the problem is people are leveling at different times. So if not at 60, it makes it hard for people to team, since some are leveling faster than others.

In my new guild on CH, I have a leveling partner, the whole idea being we level together. When not on at the same time, I switch to my main and continue to solo.

I actually have two duoing groups going on with two different friends, and likely a third to start.

But getting on a guild that's willing to help you with BAMS is a good idea. I know on my main, I've called out help for BAMs and I've usually got a few 60's willing to run out.

Not much in the way of kill xp,but it does give me the quest xp and at least gets it out of the way.

All I know the times Ive gotten to duo with someone we were able to kill and complete quests our level in record time. Especially as a lancer/sorc duo. We both mutually benefitted. Lancer held them still while I blasted and the lancer got to kill quickly instead of slowly. So yes while it may be false advertizement, what you may lose in individual XP is far and away exceeded in speed ,volume and drops. Plus the chance for BAM content is much much better.

Agreed. I feel like I go so much faster with a duo.

So why do folks have such an aversion to it ? I could understand if they had to work to group. But Im standing next to you killing the same mobs...or going for the same static spawns...I try to group with you and get ignored. Makes zero sense. Why play a multiplayer game ? I dont care if you need to afk because of family or whatever. Its not that serious. The goal is to have fun while we are in game..not grind away like factory workers for that next little goodie at the quest hub heh

I'm on CH with characters in that range (Nadezda and Mithwyn). If I'm on drop me a whisper. (My guild is Valkyrie Knights, http://thevalkyrieknights.enjin.com/home, if you're interested.)

As to your question, I've noted the MMO community has become more and more solo focused. We've seen an influx of console gamers who are used to playing a game on their own and have carried that attitude with them. MMO developers have also had a hand doing more to make the games solo friendly.

Now, this wouldn't be a bad thing except it seems more and more players are not just becoming solo-centric but group-averse. Even for "group" quests like BAMs there are some people who would rather dig in and die than get a group.

For myself I'm trying to do more to answer calls from folks in my level range asking for help, even it means back tracking or jumping ahead for quests I don't have yet. It's been fun and very satisfying. Also, I've met a lot of great people who've become friends doing it. It's meant my leveling is slowing but TERA doesn't have an extensive end-game yet so I don't see that as a problem. YMMV

I teamed up with a sorc who asked yesterday. We ran in, did the quests, got into a dungeon together (Sky Garden) finished up a quest after the dungeon.

So it's not everyone.

As to their aversion, it may be because they go afk often? They're afraid you will?

While I find duoing faster and more enjoyable than solo, if you're both not on the same page it'll get slowed down.

Im in no hurry to level. So doing like Domvina describes is fine for me. Tera has a terrible end game in my opinion. I am fairly sure I will never grind faction or gear. Its just poor, lazy content along with dailies that are just a stop gap measures by clueless devs. Players are so used to this poor content that they expect it. To me its boring and like a second job.
So helping guildies level, do quests, get gear, do instances etc is far and away more fun than any daily quest could ever be. Just the sheer happiness of someone getting a nice drop is worth it to me.
But Im an old school gamer where all dungeons and areas were open. Where you could help the next group over if they got into trouble. Where reputation meant something. Ahh well...wishful thinking I guess.

You do need to take into account XPS. Yes, you split the XP among the group, but you also split the workload, and double your DPS (for duos). You're killing a mob in half the time. Using duo as the example, you can kill two mobs in the same time it takes to kill 1. (Mob Exp x2) / 2 +20% = more exp in a group than soloing.
