The global chat is a very, very wanted product, the majority are for it, and the minority against it. (On my server, at least. )The time taken to restrict us from other chats (LFG, for example), could have been used to make us a Global chat, which would have resolved both sides of the problem. (Those chatting, and those who don't want people to talk.) Please note: I'm asking for a channel, not to remove the ban on LFG.

Pros:
-Community is better brought together.

-Easier to find groups with people if you are talking to them and get to know them first.

-Make it toggle-able, off by default, so those who dislike us talking don't have to read it.

-Without a Global chat, people feel alienated, even with /A or /P or any other system. Sure, we could whisper someone, sure, we can talk in whisper. But why restrict the community to that?

-Without a Global chat, the community will end up crumbling. Tera is very empty, very lonely, and very barren in most, if not all areas. The only areas I have ever seen /A being used since Beta, are Island of Dawn, and Lumbertown. That's it.

-There may be more trolls, but honestly, this is in ANY online community, and there will be trolls WHEREVER a chat is. If there is no Global, they will just move to /A and harass the people there instead.

Cons:
-People who toggle it will still get annoyed, because it'll still push their "LFG" channel posts away.

-People who dislike talking also may get annoyed despite it being toggle-able.

-Despite it not taking very long to implement a feature like this, people seem to complain/argue that it'll take away from "better features."

-I have yet to see any other reasoning besides this, if I read/come across more I will add them.


Personal reasoning for wanting it implemented:
I -never- got a group in LFG when typing "LFG BOL 3DPS NEED 1 TANK" etc etc etc, however, every time I would chitchat in LFG and THEN ask, I'd always, for sure, without question, get a group.

In addition to this, I hated WoW because I hated socializing in it, I hated the community, but Tera's community I ENJOY. This is GOOD. Please don't ban us from communicating with the entire server ingame, give us a global chat we're "allowed" to use so that we don't feel alienated from the community.

To keep track of who approves and disapproves, I'll be putting the ones who suggest the most for and against it here:

Current Servers For It:
Arachnaea, Blightwood, and Celestial Hills.

Current Servers Against It:
Valley of Titans, Dragonfall.

@ Catatonic - On my server, we had constructive communication, this is why it needs to be toggleable. Why ruin it for the servers that don't have as bad as a problem as the others?

@ Kunae - I scanned the General forums and didn't see any others giving legitimate reasons for why we need one.

I'm not opposed to a world chat channel. If certain individuals want to engage in inane conversation, so be it. Just don't spam LFG.

Again, I give you the reason of it being turned off by default, like LFG and Trade originally were. No one even knew they existed, if you don't want to read it, you don't have to look, it doesn't affect you, because it's not in LFG ot Trade. Wouldn't you rather we stay out of these channels instead??
