Will we need a LFG tool?

Honestly I'd prefer if teleportation wasn't a feature. It's convenient, I won't deny that, but it's led to so many people sitting in cities because they never have to leave... and then complaining about sitting in cities.

That's exactly what i'm tryinhg to find out and hoping to avoid. WoW killed my fun of the game when RDF was introduced. LFG same server tool is fine and i get it is already in the game, but i just want to know if there is any news or post that state how En Masse feels about such tools in their game.

I agree! Part of the fun in fighting a dungeon was the journey there. A lot of games with teleporting dungeon finders breed players that can't even manually locate the instances and not know their way around the game world in general. Some use the finder so much that there's no need to even level in the outside world higher than the minimum for the first instance.

Now it seems like everyone is getting on track with what i am asking about.

Do you want a dungeons finder tool to port you to the dungeon?

Do you not care who you party with as long as you can Need on any item and vendor it later of gold?

These are the kind of questions I am concerned about, along with many others and I do feel it is worth discussing now so we as a community know the direction of what Tera is going to have in store for us down the road.

If you think you know Tera is going to be doing something and you wish to declare it as a fact please post a link to an official website or don't both posting at all.

My own stance is that first off, a LFG tool to at the least form parties automatically is VITAL. I'm something of an anomaly - I remember far too clearly the days of spamming Trade chat in WoW for an hour trying to fill a group, especially if the group was for an unpopular dungeon. The release of the dungeon finder, cutting out all that bullcrap, was the single greatest addition to the game in all its years, in my opinion.

Now, that's really convenient. But I think teleportation is where the game sacrifices part of its essence for even more convenience. I never complained about sitting in cities, because I could go out and do dailies, get achievements, farm crap when I wished, or just sit in a city in queue when I didn't. But I can understand how empty it can make places feel.

Cross-server grouping on the other hand, I'm not sure about myself. Some feel it makes the dungeon running a far too anonymous process. I can see where they're coming from. On the other hand I feel part of that blame lies on the players themselves. They choose to not talk to anyone in their groups, they choose to be jerks because they'll never see them again, they get bored of the silence and do nothing to break it. For a game like TERA, I'm leaning towards no cross-server grouping - mainly because of the political system, in which a player's public identity will be vital.

I agree 100%.

I do not mind having the ability to publicize your group so that you can find others and invite them if you wish.

However, I do not support an LFG function that WoW has. No cross server anything either.

When the reputation of your character is at risk, people tend to be kinder so they can be invited again. LFG, and especially cross LFG, allows people to ninja loot and be jerks to others. It essentially kills the community aspect of an MMO.

No, please. =)

First of all, With the 58 patch on KTERA the dungeon finder as been implemented if i remember well. I find it useful on KTERA since finding group there's can be tricky. I don't mind having one for NA since it will help people who play solo or doesn't want to take the time to find one.

I've experienced the dungeon finder on KTERA and it's quite enjoyable. There's no troll and you cant roll on other people stuff since the loot system is on class only for blue, orange stuff. So if its not for your class you cant roll on it unless that class isn't in the group.

And about the failing and stuff, TERA is an easy game to my point of view for pve. Since i played the game i never failed a dungeon, I'm starting to think that tera as no challenge :( I cant wait to try the HARD mode dungeon when i hit 58, I'm currently 40 so 18 level to go :D

If there is a LFG tool that teleports you to the dungeon and is cross server I believe it will hurt the game overall by helping people just grind the dungeons and hit end game way too soon and then get bored and just call it a grind. but if it is normal and is not like that where you have to socialize with people in your community.(this is essential in the political system endgame if you are to know people on your server) ACTUALLY going to where the dungeon is it will be much more exciting and will get people of the cities like how I was in WoW just sitting around in AH in queues. and if you dont want to go to where the dungeon is and just teleport there then I guess they aren't that important eh? maybe they could make a solution of making dungeons a bigger reward in the eyes of the player so traveling there wont be "so painful". and I want to see the beautiful places of this game and travel everywhere! hunting world BAMs, guild pvp wars, nexus dynamic system, and going to dungeons while maybe being sucked into open world PvP will make this game so unique! OPEN WORLD PVP WOOOOT!! if you are going to make a LFG tool EME plz make it where its not cross server and does not teleport you to the dungeon because many people think this would be the best thing for TERA for open world PvP and communities for political endgame system. thank you!

If you played Rift and/or playing ToR you know this is going to come up sooner or later so lets get it out of the way now.

How can Tera avoid the eternal LFG conflict that other mmo's suffer from?

Quite simply put, some people hate LFG, some people love it. But either way, if such a tool is added, some people will leave, if it isn't added yet again casuals will leave. Both result in loss of subscribers and that just isn't good for any mmo company.

Is there a happy medium where maybe as content is released we shouldn't even need a LFG tool? If all mmo companies can deliver is instanced raids like than all we can do is suffer from having to have a lfg tool one way or another, so maybe if En Masse can find a better alternative to instanced dungeons and raids than we can complete skip out on needing a lfg tool completely.

So how do you guys feel about a cross server lfg tool, "like WoW's"? And is there a better way of doing content where it wouldn't be so needed?

One thing I did enjoy about Rift at launch was being able to auto join a open world group during invasions and being able to just team up with anybody to clear out a zone. This is something Rift should have sustained more through out patches instead of more and more instanced raids and experts where you had to build your own groups and end up sitting around all day hoping to find that special someone to fill that slot so you could go do what ever it was you were doing.

Unless there's something unique about your proposition that I'm missing, then YES, this LFG tool is already implemented in TERA (NA). Check it out in the next CBT. I forget the keyboard shortcut for it (I guess it's "Y"), but if you go to your menu at the bottom, I think under "Activities", you should see LFG. I've been using it quite a bit and it's been very helpful. Makes things easier to advertise parties, too.
