Has anyone found a work around for this problem?


All of the hacky things I have tried have failed. It's likely the only solution will come from EME, so we'll just have to be patient.

Likewise. I haven't found much of a work around either.
I am playing on W7 just fine, but W8 just simply and flat out doesn't launch the game, no matter what I tinker with.
I've re-installed from scratch, tinkered with the TL.exe and TERA.exe files, adjusted security settings and even stripped all of the security I could down to nothing, but still. It doesn't cooperate.

At this point its in BHS/EME hands.
I am sorry to those folks that don't have alternative OS or other options.

TERA doesn't support Windows 8. Virtual Machines are great for testing operating systems.

Here is what everyone of you should have done. Dual booted your [filtered] machines. Hard concept isn't it. I am sure you all had the harddrive space to partition off 50 or so GB for Windows 7. But naw, its a release preview(aka release condidate) it should be good to go right? Guess you all were wrong.

Why haven't you been banned yet? You seem to have done nothing to contribute to this thread. On top of that, you seem to have taken pleasure in others' inability to run the game. Great choice in username by the way -- we'd actually be much better off if you really were in a catatonic state.

In any case, I don't think the Windows 8 users are claiming some sort of right of functionality. It's simply frustrating that the game worked this entire time and now it doesn't. I imagine it's a simple fix. Those of you posting sarcastic comments about virtual machines, dual-booting and Beta OSs can politely slag off. If it's not affecting you I'm not sure why you're in the thread.

I haven't been banned because I haven't really broken any rules. I am sorry if you feel that me stating the cold truth is hurtful or whatever, and really I don't really care.

Also anyone running a non-release OS should expect problems, and should know that problems exist or will exist as the OS or software gets updated. Expecting a developer to support a non-release version of an OS is silly, and yes they are crying for EME for a fix, which may or may not happen, and really I don't care if it does or not.

And my comments aren't sarcastic they are the truth. If you want to run a beta or RC version of an OS as your main OS you cannot complain when applications stop working properly.

And I like my choice in username, and I am sorry that you wish that my state was not an optimal one, I wish nothing but good health, and prosperity for you though.

I'm interested as well in Windows 8 support. I'm pretty sure I won't be running it on my main system, but I still care.

It's also fun and interesting to figure out a problem.

Listening to someone raging about what they perceive as a complaint gets old fast. Go create your own topic about your feelings if you must.

In fact EME, in case you are wondering I'd pay extra for a well moderated server and message forum here.

Why would I create my own topic when there is a topic here that I can express my opinion in? Creating a topic about something when a topic already exists is against the forum rules. And I am not trolling the topic either. You can't expect a company to support a non official release version of an OS. I can almost guarantee you that developers for all kinds of software are testing their products on a version of Windows 8 that isn't available to the public yet.

Your "contribution" to the topic is nil. Nada. Nothing. All you are doing is arguing a straw man. Most of the posters with the OP's problem just want to figure out a solution.

While some Windows 8 users are understandably frustrated about it, most of us understand that it is a *problem* for some. And, Windows 8 final will be a reality soon enough.

So if you want to make a topic called "How I hate that anyone talks about getting Tera to work under Windows 8" knock yourself out.

Is your life so miserable that you see a need to demonstrate your uselessness in this thread? Whats the purpose of commenting in this thread when you add nothing? But if its gives a [filtered] to be a nuisance then more power to your there buddy.
