Look at WoW (yes i hate bringing it up....comparisons) the guild limit is 1000....plenty of room for alts, and no way are you EVER going to see 300 people in a guild all logged in at once. Even in the full 1000 member guilds in WoW the most you would see is maybe 50.
I think that may be their fear: a REAL zerg guild could possibly hit those numbers.
But you see my point that we still have no idea how many people are ACTUALLY in a guild so the guild count is basically a worthless number as it is...
True, i have seen the zerg guilds on Blightwood before i xfered servers. 3 of the same name all voted for themselves and gained control of 3 provinces and raised taxes to 9.9% and blah blah. I don't like the way the vanarch system is set up, i think that people in their own guild should not be able to vote for their guild. That would make it much more interesting.
ppl would leave guilds during GVG so they dont have to fight, or they would drop to join another guild to help feed for the Leadership GvG
My change wouldn't affect that one bit.
If you want to fix GvG exploiting via dropping while being attacked, add a 20 second out of combat countdown before leaving a guild.
If you want to fix people farming alts, make it count by account instead of character and make it so no account can have characters in opposing vanarchy guilds...
And again based on all the complaining on the forums people asked for the Guild CD..... clearly you havnt been on the forums for some time. Since they added the Vanarchy GvG people been asking for a GvG leave CD.....

Then a 1000 member guild limit would be feasable.
There's no good answer for it, really.
If we made it so you cannot vote for your guild, voting alliances would reign supreme. :\
Leaving a guild starts a 24-hour cooldown before joining any guild is allowed. Your real-life cooldown may take longer.
Okay, here's why this sucks...
Because every alt takes up a character space and it's only natural to want to play within the same community, you're going to wind up keeping your guild at a 1 alt policy, lest the entire guild fill up with alts (37 players X 8 alts each = ~300 and a full guild, FYI).
This means that players can no longer swap alts in and out of the guild on a whim as need be, meaning that if they find themselves wanting to swap back and forth between 2 alts, they can no longer do so.
I play 7 alts, and I move them in and out of the guild as needed so I can quest/level with the company of my guildies.
If you're going to do this change (and yes, I understand it prevents exploits), please ALSO do the following for us:
Just fix it so each ACCOUNT only takes up one space (no matter how many characters from that account are in the guild) and everything will be fine.
Then, I can have all 8 of my characters in my guild without it taking up 7 slots that could be filled by actual players instead of alts.

so instead of 2 characters leaving for another guild to feed it would be 16 characters leaving to feed.
Why go through all the coding acrobatics when you can just tell the GMs to ban any guild that does kill trading from the current election (or permanently).
So you will have to deal with no being to exploit and plunder guilds for the time being.
I'm not sure where you and Linofer got the idea that I somehow support exploiting or actively participate in it. If your guild members made 7 alts and stuck them in the same guild, that limits the guild's population to 37 actual members, which is not tiny but also not close to being large either. Alt guilds come with their own set of problems in that players can feel disconnected from the rest of the guild when playing on an alt. I play a game to hang out with friends; I wouldn't want to have to isolate myself just because I want to play an alt.
But if you want to continue accusing me of exploiting or wanting to exploit, go ahead I guess... :\
