so i keep getting told in groups that the group does not have the dps to kill last boss. so could item level requirements in dungeon finder be increased then cause running this dungeon and not being able to kill the last boss is getting real annoying.

Supposedly, the dungeon tells you if you have the "dps" to kill the boss. That is, the first boss and the Jar boss will both effectively gatecheck you on rate of damage over time. Everything else is skill.

which would be fine if the last boss didn't have an enrage timer in final phase. it might be possible with the required item level but it gives you a very small margin for error meaning no one can die and all you're stuns have to work in order to put out the necessary dps.

Wait does the first boss test dps? Does he have an enrage or something? I've never seen anything like that, and my first time fighting him was slowwww lol.

And the Jar event is more luck than dps to be honest. Not that it's hard to fail, even for dps groups that are highly inadequate for the final boss.

i was thinking it was killing that tree, since if you can't kill the tree in time good luck with anything else.

Oh, I didn't think about that. I don't even know what he does if you don't kill the tree in time, I just thought he stayed up there until you brought it down. Either way, again, that is an easy test to pass for groups that are highly inadequate for the final boss.

Auricadis doesn't have an enrage timer, and neither does Kakun (first boss).

Kakun clocks your group's damage on tree phases; if the tree is not broken after a few seconds or so, Kakun hurls an AoE coconut bomb and it is effective in killing everyone. So players have to damage the trees down in time before this happens. I am told that players can split off and dps the tree in advance, as the fight is not a damage race but rather a survival fight (like the Reaver, first boss in Fane).

The Jar "boss" clocks speed and damage by forcing you to take out three jars in random locations with large health pools in two minutes.

Auricadis clocks you by giving you 3 minutes to win it. There is some debate as to how effectively he can kill you (with me as the sole opponent, apparently) due to the fact that in KTERA total dark doesn't seem to wipe the group (I've clocked players lasting over 3 minutes from the initial announcement which in NATERA is "Auricadis gathers energy for a final strike"). Auricadis has a shout where he announces "stealing" all of everyone's "energy," but I am not to that dungeon yet and too full of cynicism -- borne of scientific stubborness -- to take anyone's untested word for it.

These are the only "clocks" in the game, and two of them can be gamed: The Jar "boss," if failed, simply resets and you get another go with no losses to the group (that I know of, perhaps it influences the chests at the end). The trees can be gamed because players can pre-dps them like towers on first Fane boss. Auricadis cannot be gamed (which is why people take it so seriously).

I just want to say I always enjoy reading your posts Qilong. Your skill with words is beyond my ability.

In response to your cynicism, I am of a similar opinion. That is the main reason I am support of some form of DPS meter. I have too often experienced someone exaggerate their abilities and suffer the consequences for believing it. There's no way to be sure how accurate someone's "eyeballing" is.

meh... my group cleared it just fine with us all at 138 ilevel... theres just no room for error... that being said... even if you had a group of 144... if one dps dies... and doest get rezzed quickly...(at least during the burn phase), it wil be a wipe anyway. once the entire group has +9 weps though, it is pretty easy to burn him down... my group usually uses a minute to burn.

I'll add to Qilong's post regarding Temple's enrages.

The first boss in NM doesn't really have an enrage timer. However, if you don't kill the tree in time, the gorilla will jump off, and has a fairly good chance at wiping the party. Clothies will die for sure. Leatherwearers can survive but only with decent gear and BAM defense crystals (Anarachic Cruxes) + extra BAM defense on armor. Usually Plate wearers can survive the attack. In hard mode, the jump wipes the party. So, a DPS check but not an enrage per se.

The final boss does have the enrage below 30%. I have wiped several times when we first started the instance at 60. Even after it is completely dark, he will kill the party with another move that deals ~1m damage or more. This is a hard enrage, and this is where your dps check comes in.

As for DPS meters, they're a tool, and don't represent the whole picture. A player who is supported by heals and is being reckless can top the meters, but isn't always the best contributor to the success of the party. Also, AoE skills (on add fights) will change meters as well.
