The game is amazing and it's truly revolutionized what my MMO expectations are.

The graphics are beautiful, the fanservice is great, but not-so-over-the-top-as-to-detract-from-gameplay and the community is roughly on par with WoW, just that the elitists are busy grouping with eachother instead of carrying newbies with no reward. (No VP JP etc to grind, why queue random? Ergo you don't see them in your groups really)

The combat is great. It's not buggy at all and I've never had the game crash once.

Not buggy or crashy for me so far. I'm level 50 on my Priest and the more I play the more I love it. I have played since CB1 and thought I liked the game then but actually getting higher than 38 (where CB5 and Open beta capped) has been amazing. The combat alone is indeed worth it. But the graphics quality and style are amazing, characters look good as does their armor. Animations are different for every race and class. They actually have combat animations which I love. PvP in this game is a lot of fun. PvE is fun as well and gets pretty challenging once you hit 45-50 - definitely requires skill on everyone's party. EME is a great company - cares about the players, is quick to react to bug fixes and actually reads player requests for changes to the game and is capable of making those changes. Customer service is top notch. Have been playing MMO's and other games for years and TERA blows them all out of the water in so many ways. I know I sound like a fangirl but even the most jaded gamer tends to be pleasantly surprised by TERA - and you will get addicted fast and lose interest in all other games.

The first few levels are REALLY dreadful for an experienced player. Basically they're just way too easy and simple. Around level 20 things get to be more engaging with your first instance and first opportunity to fight BAMs, and it keeps getting more engaging from there. (I'm on Southern Shara and loving it!) The combat at first may feel a bit clunky because you don't have many skills and the skills you do have root you, but once you get more abilities, and dabble around with glyphs, the clunkyness goes away, your character gains a crap-ton of mobility, and the combat starts to feel a whole lot more fluid. TERA's combat is the most fulfilling combat I've ever experienced. There's nothing like circle kiting a BAM for 5 minutes because you don't have any pots left and you're down to 200 hp, and you pull it off anyway. As for bugs, the only problems seem to be in En Masse's billing system... (kiind of a hurdle there..)

There are a few bugs, but most are cosmetic and don't interfere with gameplay. An example of this is for some reason using " " marks in chat will cause whatever you typed to appear blank. Something I'm sure they will be fixing...

EME has had some billing / subscription problems... they are fixing all of the affected accounts, but you will need to contact them if this happens. Just be patient it might take a few hours to get through the queue but they are very helpful.

As far as combat... it's great. If you're a newb and first start out, it takes a little getting used to and eventually you'll be begging for harder stuff.

The graphics are truly wonderful on a nice pc rig. The art style is awesome for me. The combat is fluid and feels rewarding.

The quest system is like any typical MMO... I didn't come in expecting some crazy new questing system. It follows the same breadcrumb style system as RIFT/WoW etc.. but with BAMs and the FUNgeons it's good.

I'm really enjoying the game.

I didn't think it was easy at the beginning. I couldn't figure out the controls well at all and they just threw you into the story I was like aaaahhhh!!! There were players running around everywhere! I love the game though and would highly recommend people buy it. After playing it and creating a new character and starting from the beginning I realised it was so hard. I love the combat system. At first it was really hard for me to get used to but after playing for awhile I got the hang of it and I get better everyday. :D We need to spread the Love and no the Hate!

OP, just another quick thing.

If you absolutely do not like arcade/action game style play (like Street Fighter 2, or Mortal Kombat, for instance) because you cannot move while performing a special manuever, then you most likely will not enjoy TERA's combat. That seems to be among the chief complaints.

If, OTOH, the idea of swinging 2 50-pound maces while running nonstop in a circle around someone seems retarded, then step right in, we have a spot for ya. =)

It's okay I guess, really nice graphics. As a player that has played 4 Korean MMOs before, I had some different expectations of the combat system before I started. Basically this is not my first or second MMO I have played that requires manual aim/dodging. The combat system to me feels a step or two too slow a lot of times. However if someone is coming over from WoW, it will probably feel like the right pace for them.

I was first disappointed when I realized you couldn't even auto attack while on the run as a ranged class. It just feels like a stay in one place and turret damage. I also felt like most of the player and enemy attack animations just take too long. And I don't know if there's some hidden GCD in between performing special moves but it feels like there's some sort of delay preventing you from chaining multiple attacks fluidly. I guess I was expecting some kind of real combo system. You can 'chain' two specific skills together but it doesn't seem to make much difference.

Most KMMOs have really flashy moves as well, but none of the stuff I've seen has really impressed me. The sorc fireball is the most generic looking thing ever, they could have done better in this area on a whole.

I was also let down by the fact that backstep (for archer at least) doesn't seem to grant iframes, so it takes away the ability to ride a boss hard and with perfect timing keep from taking damage. I do believe some of the melee classes get iframes on their dodges but I haven't really had time to start a warrior yet. Kinda sad because I at least wanted some tools to stay in close with the melee and fight (no I don't expect them to give a range class as good of dodges but at least something).

Basically the game was hyped for the new crowd, but if you're already used to this genre of MMO it isn't anything special. I'm freaking picky though so don't take me too seriously. I'm still giving it a chance since I haven't done a whole lot of the content yet and it truly is a beautiful game.
