slightly disapointed in the CE packaging...

Yes, it did come with a compass ... but it's not a working compass. That's the only thing about the CE that disappointed me. Yes, it's weighty, and nice to hold, but the compass needle only rotates when you make it rotate. It doesn't even point to North. :O( *sad panda sigh*

Really? Mine's working. I can't be too sure of it's accuracy, bit i'm messing with the needle hardcore and it always recovers and points to one direction.

Did it also come with the compass shown in that picture? Can't believe everything you see and read.. not in 2012.

It does come with a compass. It's actually a bit weighty (metal).

WELL F*** YEAH! That's worth 20 bucks alone!

Yes, maybe we can use the compass to track down where the hardcover backing and the other 400+ pages of that Federation Handbook advertised in that image went.

Aren't compasses always supposed to point North? Mine was pointing south in the box. When I took it out of the box it was pointing east ... :'(

Make sure it's super level.
(also, are you using another compass for calibrations or something? .__.)

I don't have a compass. That's why I was so excited about getting one. *sniffles* I'll look at it again when I get home.

Then how do you know that the needle is pointing the wrong way? o.o

Because I thought compasses were supposed to always point North.

I think (I would hope) most people are able to tell which direction north is in, at least from their home.

And I most certainly do. My needle (for whatever reason) is pointing west.
