the Prologue is causing so many people to quit

I didn't play beta at all. I liked the prologue a lot.

If you are going to quit over the prologue you are willing to quit over literally ANYTHING. Honestly if you are that ridiculous you aren't worth worrying about because you will never be happy.

I'm going to be blunt, if you bought this game and quit over the prologue you are an idiot plain and simple. I mean seriously, what's wrong with you? Anything other than a stupidly easy beginning and you quit? Good riddance.

* snipped for good reason*

@Crucius, it's actually not uncommon for RPG's to first introduce you to a game with an advanced character. It seems like common gamer sense to me to know that starting with a level 20 character does not happen and will be temporary.
it IS uncommon to do this.. Please tell us what other games do tjs that would make it common.

It seems to me that the main reason people are feeling frustrated or overwhelmed by the prologue is that they went into the game fairly clueless, they didn't really learn anything about the game beforehand. They didn't do research on it. The way I see it, that's their own failing. You should always gather knowledge on something you plan on investing so much time in, the more the better. Perhaps that's why it was so simple for me when I did it on every class except Priest and Mystic. I knew how the classes worked before I even bought the game. *shrugs*

i know the basics, i knew roughly how the combat works. i don't want to read all the details to learn, i want to play the game to learn. reading up on ability's before game shouldn't ever be needed.

also i actually cant think of any RPGs that do this, and i didn't even look at my lvl until my second time in the prologue.
i never made the assumption i wouldn't be lvl 1.

The prologue...

It really was kind of random and not very instructive and I can see why some players would not like it.

Most players state that the game takes off after like level 20 and many that quit the game did so before then saying that the game was boring. The prologue I believe was an attempt to give players the chance to play at that point where the game "takes off."

What they really should have done was knitted it into the story more; have it be one of those beginnings where you start at the end or in the middle of the main story at some critical plot point.

As for the actual game play in the prologue they really need to work on the instructional value of it. It had the right idea of giving players a chance to know what the combat would be like later on, but it was confusing for many players; especially those that have never played an action game before. It also gave player a whole bunch of skill that they hadn't the chance to build up to and work into a strategy, so it could feel a little overwhelming.

Personally, it wasn't very confusing or frustrating for me (I've played several action based games, so I'm pretty comfortable with the idea behind the controls), but I could see it not being very enjoyable for some people as it does kind of throw a whole bunch at you with little instruction on what to do.

Who spends $50 or $60 on a game, and decides to stop playing it in the first 10 minutes during the intro?

Really? cause I loved the prologue. It showed me what the class was capable of without being TOO overwhelming. I got some practice shots off on the easy mobs before the big ones, i had 2 minutes where i was climbing a ladder or two to scan over the abilities and see what they did and plan combos.

Great fun, though it sucks as a healer.

Gosh Daish is annoying. But I think it would be to everyone's benefit if

1) After new character creation a screen appeared offering the player to either do the prologue or go straight to isle of dawn (even if it's the first character) . And explaining that if they take their prologue it will be short with a sampling of higher level spells that could be confusing. It is sad it has to come to that but many people really do need that much handholding.

And hopefully will provide Daish with one less excuse to post his wit and wisdom.

Not sure if this has been said, but not looking through 9 pages to find out. If you make a char and cant skip the prologue; as soon as you enter it, log out to char select, then select your new char and pick island of dawn presto 1minute prologue

If you're struggling in the prologue you should honestly just quit.. It takes 30 seconds to get out of it

Incorrect sir. When you make your first character, you don't get an option. You click play, and you go to "prologue", that is all. There is no indication of anything.
