why do players want everything handed to them?

ive been playing tera for awhile now and love the challenge it gives. i also tank as warrior and love the 3 avoidences they give class as it is then i hear they are giving us a block or parry something like that and i was like really as if we need it . i also hear ppl complaining in lfg chat about other stupid things and what im trying to say is if u cant play the class choose another or learn how to play the class there are many forums that help u understand the class more on what to look for or do dps or tank wise as to healing. u have to just look for it many ppl are out there trying to help u ppl undertsand the classes .....so it couldnt get any easier than that so to all u cry babies stop crying because u cant always get what u want or make a class easier for u .go play wow or hello kitty if u want it easy because most the ppl that play tera like the challenge it gives and instead of spamming one button or 3 at most they like to hit more than one button to use thier combo skills .i just dont understand why most u ppl cry over the stupidest stuff and that will change this game if tera listens to it so if u dont like the challenge then play another game and dont ruin it for us that do like the challenge.

MMOs these days are watered down from MMOs of the past. I predict that the majority of MMOs in the future will be easy mode.

Lack of end game content and low game cap at release have doomed many a MMO...

Why can't a title be released that already has abundant end game content and a higher game cap at release?

I know we have level 60 but all in all we apparently have a huge lack of end game and also fluff to keep us happy.

Crafting sucks buttt at the moment so theres a major fluff mechanic down the drain...

Oh crap my boss is coming... Hide yo wife hide yo kids!!!!

maybe ppl shouldnt level so fast and actually do quests and story lines for each area instead of fast leveling i mean the game just came to america ive been doing all quests in each area and having fun doing that with friends

Because most "gamers" today are kids who grew up with their parents coddling them and giving in to their every whim.. they've never had to have patience or actually work for anything in their lives...

this behavioral setting simply transfers over when they play games.

It's not very hard to get to lvl 60 at all, you can not rush at all and get there in no time

Eh, I'm an MMO dinosaur and I don't miss the old days since a lot of that gameplay was raw and unpleasant.

Still, I don't want stuff handed to me, I want to earn my stuff and feel like I'm accomplishing something other than speed leveling.

What I want is fair gameplay and for playing well to be rewarded, which is something that's rare in any MMORPG, especially these days where you get uber loot just for showing up.

Last I checked, we were playing a game. I like to have fun playing games. I already have a job. Maybe if some people that post here actually had a job, life, moved out of their parent's house, etc, they'd grasp this concept.

I would disagree since MMORPGs offer so much more now than they ever did "in the past." Agreed that some lack challenge and have for years, but I think that is finally changing a little. Tera offers some degree of challenge but you still have overpowering content with gear or levels and/or sissies having higher level toons babysitting them thru content.

Even the ez-mode MMORPGs have challenging content in them, it's just that the content is optional. You can easily do lots of stuff solo in those games and never get remotely challenged...but they all have tough content for those who seek and want it. Options are good.

I don't mistake tedium and miserable game mechanic implimentations for challenge. That's how most old school MMORPGs roll. Real challenge is me vs content and the content itself being tough and making me play well. Stuff like harsh death penalties, excessive travel, radically long leveling curves with tons of grind, and other garbage are inconveniences, time sinks, tedium...and not really challenge. I guess some of this is opinion. If you think doing the same boring thing repeatedly, like grind mobs for days on end, to get a level, is a challenge...ok...I do not.

It seems like some MMORPGs are finally trying to break away from the ez-mode setup a little. But just a little. I mean, it's not like any game that lets you solo quest to cap is ever going to be all that difficult, leet as some people might think they are playing Tera.

Tera, TSW, and GW2 are all kind of presenting a bit more challenging content than many MMORPGs.

TSW has the more old school kick you in the nuts feel - making you travel for 30 minutes to do one mundane quest. That's fun. If you like your nads getting stapled.

Tera has the action combat that at least helps de-stagnate combat, even if it's hardly all that complicated like some would make it seem (or I guess it's complicated if you're mentally challenged in some way). At the very least the system features mobs that often do more than stand there and die and you can't just get by with a 2-4 button "rotation" usually.

GW2 doesn't have the same type of active combat at Tera but it's more active than many systems since you do have to move a lot and dodge telegraphs or get mangled, and GW2 preserves challenge by not allowing you to overpower content with gear, levels, or healing (ie, can't heal your way thru stupid, you have to play well).

Sadly Tera has the whole gear overpowering thing in full force. Go buy some blues or yellows and crush content while leveling. You go. You're skilled for sure. Or you can just beat up lower level content - level makes a huge difference in Tera. I've seen lvl 60 lancers one-shotting lvl 20 BAMs. That's just idiotic. Then you have all these amazing gods of skill that play tera...having their lvl 60 buddies drag them thru content as a babysitter....pure cheese. Or you have people soloing same level BAMs which kind of defeats the purpose of having group-based content, not to mention that maybe they should be called DAMs (dumb [filtered] monsters) since they can be soloed so easily. Pathetic.

So, dunno, Tera players copping an elitist attitude about difficulty is pretty much laughable since Tera is just like any other typical MMORPG where gear and level don't equate to skill and are often the determining factor in success.

This is why I'm stoked for GW2 - it is eliminating all the cheese elements of gear, level, babysitting, healing stupid, etc and you will have to play well or you won't get anywhere.

i would have to say mainly, wow. most games do try to copy them. WoW is a good game in its own right but most games try to copy its casual, user friendly game play, and..well its kinda ruining most MMO's. most games anymore do come out with a level cap, generally around 60 with lacking content.

i personally think diablo 2 was the only game to come out with everything, with an exspansion thrown on later to boost up play time. i mean, level 99, all the content was there and it was just a matter of getting to it. i think the mentality anymore is to give good gear easy to keep the casuals around because gamers who dont mind playing for one piece of gear for 2 weeks just dont number enough to get a companies attention.
