Heya folks.
We generally keep to ourselves 'round these parts, but we've been planning to host a bi-weekly server tournament since early in the closed betas. However, I'm extremely good at procrastinating! Now that things are a little more settled, though, it's time to get the ball rolling.
The format/rules of the competition can be found below:
When? Saturday, June 9, 5 p.m. CST.
Where? TBA
Who? Well you, obviously, with us hosting. Why did you ask that, silly?
What? Single-elimination, 32-team, 3v3 Deathmatch competition. Best of three advances. If we do not get 32 teams, we will cap it at the highest multiple of 4 that we can to have a decent bracket, and just front more gold to make a decent prize pool.
Guidelines
1.) There will be an entry fee of 500g for each team; this evens out to a mere 166(.66 repeating) gold per person, and allows for us to supply a large prize pool for the top three teams in the tournament. The entry fee will be asked for up front and is non-refundable; we have had issues in the past with people committing to show and then bailing last minute, or mid-tournament. This will ensure participants are held to their word and/or the prize pool is adequate for the remaining teams should they decide to back out.
2.) Paradigm will increase the pot by an additional 25% so that the top teams will receive the following:
--Third place will be decided by pitting the two teams that lost to the first and second place teams against one another; the winner of that match will take Third.
3.) No consumables or outside resources are allowed. This is a competition about skill, not about who was able to farm enough gold/Catharnach awards for a few hours of fighting. The only exception to this rule is that charms will be allowed, because there is no way to police people putting down fires and charms in the spectating area. So feel free to charm up before a match.
4.) In reference to the above rule, there will be an Officer from Paradigm present in each team's Deathmatch in order to enforce that rule. If we catch anybody going against the above rule, they will be immediately disqualified and the opposing team will advance (If clarification is needed on what is/is not allowed, ask specific questions in this thread and we will be happy to respond quickly).
5.) Bring pastrami sandwiches. I love me a good pastrami sandwich.
Those are all of our "requests" (read: rules). Please send me a message on these forums to register your 3-man team. If there are any changes to your team in the time before June 9, you must notify me as soon as possible to change the names/line up.
The event will be streamed live from two points of view, one of which will be announcing/casting the matches. They can both be found on our guild's live stream page here.
Disclaimer: This is our second week hosting the tournament, and as such there will be snags and things to learn from. We ask patience and well-thought-out suggestions so that each week can be better and more fun for everybody.
Cheers,
- Mnemosyne
