Dear friends,
If you are reading this, know that I have moved on. But do not be sad. Due to In game mail being limited to 300 characters- i could not send you mail personally but perhaps deliver my message through the forum and all those Jagged Coasters.
As I followed the game closely during beta (watching Youtube videos of gameplay), and played throughout the levels and end game- I really fell in love with Tera. The combat foundation and artstyle is superb and potential in its world to make itself is so great. But it's love for me is short lived. The execution of how content is implemented in this game is so very flawed, and the lack thereof- even after a year and a half in Korea leaves me wanting more but the realization of that which is shallow is too great.
My lancer end game is consistent nothing more than farming the same 2/3 instances over and over again for the hope of getting fodder for +X on my gear, and grinding rep. Even the Hard Modes of these dungeons consist of nothing more than the same bosses with no new mechanics other than added enrage timers and more damage to the party. PvP can be fun, but for independent players like some of us- no organized PvP in the game implemented means nothing more than gank fests while you are out farming for trash drops or quest mobs.
True- every end game is a grind, but at least in raids where you have 10+ players in a raid you feel that the culmination of your experiences learned and the knowing of your class you can use on a grandeur scale. Playing your class and your abilities can be demonstrated to a greater scale used on bigger fights where a larger team is dependent on each other for success and progress together... rather than just the same old 5 mans over and over again with no impact and no motivation to persuit anything further.
As I have been leveling a slayer alt - I really have become privy to the class imbalances that plague the players. Impossible dungeon queues for the DPS, and the monotony that drives players away from leveling a lancer makes instancing/bam quests close to chore to do. That is why we all see ppl shouting in LFG for hours on end for the same quests and looking for the same things over and over.
I know that class changes and new content is due for the end of this summer... but until then and in the mean time. I simply cannot be compelled to support you any longer with countless amount of hours in the same content/lack thereof and my hard earned subscription money. Even after a year and a half old of being released in Korea and being imported to the U.S - I feel this game is still not finished, but what MMO truely is? it never is- but it is not at a level that is satisfactory of continued investment at this point.
For those of you who have known me as the Pugmaster tank... I am sorry that I must leave. But everyone has a decision to make on what to do with their own time and money. I simply no longer feel the love from this game anymore- the enjoyment/reward factor earned vs investment/time put in is simply not enough.
For those of you who are still in love with this game, please continue to explore and enjoy your time together. Find out different avenues and community organized events - maximize your time leveling and enjoyment of what this game has to offer in all aspects. As for me... perhaps I will see you once again down the road months later in the LFG channel. Until then...
Pugmaster Lancer,
