So normally I would not post in another Guild's thread (with the exception of well wishes, etc.)as I am already in one, but there is one thing in particular about your Guild that stands out from (to my knowledge) every other guild on this server.

I am referring to your LGBT policy. Now I am going to assume that since you are a bold enough Guild to put that in your 'guild summary' that you don't really tolerate what could be referred to as 'hate speech' or general uses of the word '[filtered]' when describing something that someone thinks is stupid.

I happen to be a G in LGBT and, if all the assumptions I have made thus far are correct, you guys are awesome, but if they aren't there isn't any point to read any further.

Being [filtered] and playing games is not something that is necessarily easy for people who are among certain majorities. Tempers flare etc etc and, in my experience, some negatively connotative statement referencing being [filtered] always comes up. With gaming it is generally unavoidable (with the exception of one awesome group I had the pleasure of rolling with for a short while).

It is hard to describe how alienating it can feel to constantly hear people talking in such a casual and negative manner about something that is so ingrained in who some people are.

Over the years I have certainly gotten thicker skin about the issue in general. It doesn't necessarily affect me like it used to, and that is partially because if I want to game it is something that I feel that I must accept as a reality of the gaming world. Insensitivities fly around and this happens to be just one.

Props to you for at the very least being an ally, obviously that isn't your main focus, but it's nice to know that a Guild like you exists.

On a side note the fun that I have in games greatly outweighs the negative comments that I hear. It is just a shame that it keeps some people form experiencing what some games have to offer.

Hi Xessos. We do have the LGBT policy because we have several G and L and B (and other) members here and we do not tolerate hate speech, negative comments or words. We put it out there as a policy because we don't believe enough guilds have a stance on this issue or topic.

Thanks for the props :) We all know how difficult it can be due to the obliviousness some people have in the gaming community as to certain things they say. Lots of us have thick skin but we want Vincit Omnia to be a place where not only every member has a voice and an opinion which gets put to good use, but also a place they can call safe and feel that they are among friends with no discrimination.

I'm glad to know that someone out there appreciates how we run things and good luck to you and your guild mates in the future! Hopefully we will see you on Jagged Coast :P
