Hello all.

As the tittle says I'm new to being mystic, I'm -heavily- enjoying the class and very glad I did it as my lvlup toon. I've been taking the time to try and learn everything I can about the class, and have read few of the Tera-to-day guides. Now while I'm grateful to the makers for the guides and I do use of it what I can.. the only up-to-date one is mainly for for PvE and imho, isn't really newen friendly in it's organization.

I'll try an keep this short an to the point forgive me if it's a little jumbled..
I'll pre-face that I've only been playing Tera now for a solid two months. Sorc is my "main" but as I said above been playing my Myst more, who is currently 62% through 58.. last few weeks have been.. less than kind so I've not had much time to be on and what time I have been on lately... being on RP sever (which I'm -loving- having moved from TR) I get easily side tracked with socialization side of things lol.

What I'm lost like crazy on most at this time is the end game gear, what to look for in terms of stats, what to focus on or not bother with and how personal stats & skills effect my thralls if at all.

Before that lets talk play-style.
I have never been support class, nor mage class before, Sorc was my first taste of mage/glass-cannon and Myst is my frist taste of support hybrid. My normal style was more Warrior classes like Mix of DPS/Tank; Coming to tera I wanted something new. Old habits die hard. while I'm not clinging to the BAMs Legs I am likely closer than I should be most times, I have gotten target heal and target clens down pretty good, monitoring health/stat I've found is pretty natural, Dropping them balls is becoming easier. I do still add my personal attacks ontop of ToP or ToV's to the parties on the target -alot- I know this isn't necessarily a "Bad" thing just not 100% if that's the best practice. I'm still getting used to when each thrall has it's best moments.. more so with ToV. I love using Telp jut a lot, if I can see an opportunity to get close and dump "Titanic Wrath" on the ToP and Melee class of the party, I'll do it. Coming from Sorc also means I'm now really having to monitor my MP pool as Sorc's regen is nuts and Myst isn't.

tl;dr: healing clensing fine, ball drop getting more natural, iffy on when to use ToV, stuck with bit of old Warrior/tank-ish mentality = may get to close at times. spams Poison curse maybe a bit to much? and kamikazes with tel port just to dump Titanic Wrath 'bit to eagerly.

With all that done. Gear.
My current gear is the robes provided by the lvl up event with a set of superior jewelry I was able to get off the broker, the earrings and rings are mix matched due to availability and the liking the stats some had over another, My main crystals are 3x MP regen, 1X combat mov speed. 4x Bos Dam Reduction.

In terms of content I do want to exprense PvP. regardless of PvE or PVP. I don't want to be a liability to people I'm with. I -know- that majorly comes from experience but having the "right" gear doesn't hurt.

I've never experienced endgame before so I've 0 idea on any of the armor-sets I was starting to think full Regent for sorc just before new gear and lvlup "Test" came out. I'm still leaning on Regent as my "in-term" set.
I hear SteedFast is good but the only reason to get it is to do the WHNM quest to get WH gear of your liking with all the "Suited for__" possibilities and class defined rolls etc.
I'm worried however that I'm just getting caught up in the hype. I'm highly aware ilvl is -not- everything nor do I "care" beyond the extent of being accepted into instances and such.

I'd thought that maybe doing full WH gear and doing a mix of "Sutted for__" might be interesting.. like, a mix of damage, defense, healing, crit rate, attak speed. but I'm really not sure if that's "viable" or "wise". Cool down buffs are what I'd really be after as well.
but as I want to do PvE and PvE maybe a mix of gear? or should I build task targeted sets? or Do one solid set and "slave" as some people say, at making VM and VM2 gear?

Accessories.
I'm guessing the Zenith set is pretty much where its at yes?

Thralls. This is pretty simple.
Do any base core stats or buffs from gear or skills we can cast, effect Thrall output/preformce?
Whats the best use for ToV?
I'm aware of the "attack/follow" glitch on ToP and ToW and know to cast ToP first and let him smash on things before call'n Wrath out to rip w/e it is apart.

PVP. Any tips?
skils use, timing, should/shouldn'ts? if you find your self muted/stuned do __?

Anything else I'm not thinking of that might be useful?

I believe that about covers it all.. again I'm sorry if it's.. all over the place, hopefully I've cleaned it up enough so it's less so.
Thanks for reading.

Okay

PvE gameplay some stuff I do...

If boss doesn't move much and your party members are close to each other, stack motes separately (HP mote stack and MP mote stack) and place them near DPS.
If the boss does a lot of AoE attacks and your party members are separated, scatter motes around the boss and only stack MP motes.
If the boss is fast and moves a lot, place MP mote and HP mote together so they can pick them both up quickly and get back into the fight.

Use Thrall of Vengeance in boss fights. Same goes for Thrall of Wrath though using Thrall of Wrath on a huge crowd of mobs is useful too with Sharan's Lash to stun them as a group.

Volley of Curses is not worth it. It's damage is non-existent in PvE so non-combat speed is more useful. Though it's useful in PvP. And try not to get too close. You are a cloth class and squishy.

About gears...

Easiest endgame gear to get is steadfast though to get it you'll need to run WHNM or through Molten Tokens or Cyasma Tokens(not worth it). But you need to be geared for parties to accept you. Acceptable gear for WHNM is Abyss scepter + UTI chest/boots/gloves (cheapest way to gear up). You don't really need full Regent for WHNM thought Regent Scepter is pretty nice.

For endgame gear combo, I suggest

Wonderholme weapon/chest + Strikeforce boots/gloves (almost as good as WH boots/gloves and also useful for pvp).

For Accessories, Zenith set is harder for farm and has low healing % bonus. You can reroll their bonus stats to get healing % bonus but semi-enigmatic scrolls are expensive so just do Alliance Vault for Nocternium accessories.

Thralls doesn't scale with anything other than skill upgrade and glyphs. The only buff you can use on them is Titanic Wrath. Priest buffs/purifying circle works on them though i dont know why.

Mystic PvP is just DoT kiting. Use Volley of Curses and make sure it's always at 3 stacks and kite with teleport jaunt when they get close or escaping. Hp Mote or Thrall of Life when low health. Use CCs when you need a breather or to set up kills for your team. And heal when your team needs healing. Well, you can't do anything when you're CCed. Though if you think you're gonna get CCed, cast thrall of life so it can cleanse you when your are CCed.

Thanks for the reply Gorgoneion.

that makes sense for the orb droping, shall work on that.
ToV for boss? it's pretty squshy... but i guess it's constant rate and wide range is probably better than ToP's let me chace you down and beat you style lol.

Sharan's bolt.. thats the basic attak yes?
and working on keeping a decent balanced distance.

as for Gear.. Strike-force.. thats the update of the Conjur set?
over all I'm not heavily wrapped up in "how high I heal crit" as I figured the balance of Cool down bonuses means I can heal much more often.

Not sure what UTI is.. nor what you mean by "use VoC at 3 stacks"
and ya.. a muted mysc is probly a dead one pretty quickly lol.

Yea cast ToV when you dont much to do.

I mixed up Sharan's Lash and Sharan's Bolt. Anyways, Sharan's Lash is the bolt you cast that will briefly aoe stun when it explodes.

Yes Strikeforce is the conjunct upgrade. I'd only get strikeforce boots/gloves because they're as good as WH and easier to get. Mystic's don't really need PvP weapon as their main job is to heal and CC and our Thralls/VoC doesn't scale with anything other than skill upgrade and glyphs (VoC can crit). The 3 best stats for Mystic are healing %bonus, Cooldown reduction (new bonus stat) and attack speed. The CD Reduction doesn't really give any noticeable effect to your healing as much as attack speed(important for PvP). But CD reduction really compliments your teleport jaunt and your motes.

UTI (Unified Theory Institute) is reputation faction. The UTI chest is equivalent to +9-10 Abyss chest plus it has skill bonus if i remember. And always keep VoC at 3 stacks for obvious reasons: it does most dmg at 3 stacks so you dont want to let it reset back 1. Depending on the gap between you and enemy's gear, you might survive. For Crystals for PVE I like to use 2 boss dmg reduction and 2 relentless crystals (increase HP). For PvP use 4 relentless crystals that way you're not as squishy.

ALSSOOOO

I FORGOT TO INCLUDE THIS IN MY LAST POST.

GET GLYPH OF RESTORATION FOR HP MOTE. IT'S MYSTIC'S MOST USEFUL GLYPH. It will probably get nerfed in the future however, it will still be Mystic's most useful glyph aside from retaliate teleport jaunt reset.

Id like to help you more but unfortunately Im on my mobile so I'll be short and to the point.

Gear: Anything in this game can be done with +9 steadfast as a healer with zenith set (earrings/neck) and some improved noctium rings this should put you at around 164 ilvl which is the equiv of +12 regents. You do NOT get steadfast to upgrade to wh because you have to clear whnm 30 times to just get the boots, then another 30 for the gloves, then again for the chest and again for the weapon. Keep in mind to upgrade to +10 wh via quests requires you to have +12 steadfast as well. The quest does not allow you to choose what item to upgrade it goes in the order i showed.

If you plan to make the strikeforce gloves/boots like the above poster rec'd (and to which I agree with) i would stop doing quests and solely focus on cs until you reach 60. This should get you close to earning the needed points to buy the plans and the materials for it. Also, this will aid in your use of cc and learning when to use it, how to time your teleport jaunt iframe to avoid cannon fire will help in pve as well.

Also, do not use the abyss scepter- it has a healing mod that is worse than agnitor just pay a bit more gold for it (it is worth it, base 7.5% hp increase and a base heal of 400hp more than abyss). Id also heavily go against using steadfast scepter because it may have a high base heal mod but it loses alot of base healing stats, 7.5% hp loss (our glyph of restoration is based off max hp) the cd reduction is really only useful for pvp BUT if you have no problems with healing and evasion go ahead and use it.

I use a Wonderhelm keen scepter with double cd reduction, 14 crit and 6% healing- people will say the AS loss from regents to wh is noticeable (its not) if it was my animation locks im mchm would get me killed because of the time im used to from my old double AS regent scepter and since I work off sound cues (I can be facing away from her and be able to tell she's doing a curl, a donut, etc.) and muscle memory to avoid one shots this is a habit that is hard to stop myself from doing.

I posted some glyph setups in a past topic in this mystic section it should still be on this first page so look for it if you need help in that area as well.

I'm sorry it took so long to reply to your post Mami.
This forum lack of basic notification tools, tis quite frustrating and a high level of fail, no emails for replies or pms for a forum which is supposed to add to community and player interaction and helping others and all that is a horrific oversight.

Thank you for clearing up the "upgrade' quest. I was told by a friend that if you did it enough times you'd get to chose or something which I have the feeling was simply info he passed along that he heard else where.

In terms of content, again PvE is generally my focus but being one who wants to and enjoys experiencing as much as they can of what they invest in. I do plan to par take in PvP and would like to be able to equip myself properly for both instances. Hard work also is not a deterrent, I'll gladly "grind" or "slave" away for my gear I enjoy the satisfaction that comes from it I find that there really isn't any "Grind" in Tera personally but that probably comes from lvl capping two toons on PSO-BB of who's level cap was 200 with no "boosts" or any such.
"Quick" roots are nice but I'm aware if you want the "best" you got'a put in the time, but I'm also aware that I will -need- a decent/strong base set for when I hit 60 and that the "best" for me/my-play-style may be a mix of sets and not one congruent named batch and that if I don't like a look or style I can template nearly all endgame gear.

With the above in mind. I've heard not just from you and the above poster but from others that the StrikeForce gear is a viable option in terms of both PvP and PvE focused but as again I'm still freshly packaged "noob" or.. newen as I usually say.. that I'm likely just getting swept up in hype and peoples opinions.. that said all information and help is heavily appreciated, just takes time to weed through things lol.
I do think I go for sure with the StrikeF Boots and Gloves, at least in CS where everyone's gear is normalized I can focus more on as you said, learning my class, my place/role in a battle. I hate being a "burden" to any team I'm placed with so I'm always trying to learn and improve.
As you've mentioned, TelP Jut has a 2 second invincibility frame.. is this during or after? I've also heard many try and trick/force Mystics to using TpJ so they can then CC them after that iframe and let their team rip them to peaces. And I noticed that at times it glitches or sticks where it doesn't actually -move- you is it because I'm pressing directional keys at the same time? (I use a Logitech G13 Key Pad and G600 Mouse)

I'm just a bit confused on what weapon your actually suggesting I go for, don't touch abyss, got that part, agnitor? I very much wasn't considering the SteadFast scepter having had a chance to compare it's stats very momentarily on the broker with a WH and Regent scepter. any boon to HP would be nice and I would like the CD stat in conjunction with crit, healing, and if possible a Attk speed buf but if it's really not noticeable then I can do with out the AS and like yourself go for more CD. my current scepter does have a 8% AS on it, this is from the lvl up event set that we were given which I'm told is supposedly a set that only a high level raid boss would drop.
How do you find the double CD? like where do you see the most effect/bonus to it?

Yes I saw the glyph setup links and have book marked the page though i do wonder why we are given extra pages to save setups to but have to use an item to allow us to swap. Balancing might be one reason but it honestly is rather superficial imho.
I've gotten all the lvl 58 "Green" glyph I felt where useful to me and ignored only I think two or three. such as the balance buff on Retaliate.. a guide from Teratoday said it wasn't worth it due to the effect of Retaliate itself which makes one immune to staggers an kds for two seconds anyway.

Thank you for your insight and input Mami.

Strikeforce boots and gloves are the exact same statwise as the wonderhelm boots with the added effect lines for pvp damage reduction. This makes them perfect hybrid equipment for pvp (even srious pvp like skyring) and pve instances like WHHM, you will need to make the conjunct pieces before you can craft strikeforce but it should not be too much of a hassle with how easy it is to get Bg points.

Teleport jaunts' iframe initiates the second you cast it and ends the moment you get propelled forward- literally only lasts for half a second. Of course attacks wont hit you while you are being propelled forward during the TJ animation BUT lock-on skills like priest's Isharas's Lullaby will land after the TJ animation if not timed correctly in this instance a mystic has to teleport jaunt right before the skill actually hits (unlike priest who can dodge our sonorous dreams with backstep at any time before it lands during the 1second iframe).

That issue you're having where teleport jaunt places you back where you casted the skill is commonly referred to "rubberbanding" and it happens mostly due to ping issues on your part, lag or by pressing the forward key while teleporting- its not exclusive to just our class though and most classes have a skill that will cause them to rubberband if those conditions are met.

As for weapons... Purely by preference honestly.

Steadfast:
Pro:
-CD reduction rollable stat is available
-higher attack base than regents, agnitor
Con:
-15 attack speed loss from regent/mayhem/agnitor(noticeable in pvp, not so much in pve)
-2k base healing loss from regents

Regent/mayhem:
Pro:
-higher base heal modifier stats than steadfast and wh
-higher attack speed
-better mana retention than steadfast
-mayhem's ice proc is great for pvp
Con:
-lower base attack than steadfast/wh
-no CD, Crit (11, 14 when masterworked) rate skill stats
-regents scepter special proc can ruin a crucial sleep with it's DoT in threes

Wonderhelm (keen) scepter:
Pro:
-11 (14 when mw) base crit rate, 5.4 (7.2% when mw), able to roll another line of each at the bottom

All other applicable pro and cons from steadfast apply.

Wonderhelm (swift) scepter:
Pro:
- 4.5 (6%) base attack speed

All other applicable pro/cons from steadfast apply.

Wonderhelm (intense) scepter:

Pro:
-6 (8%) extra base healing stat

All applicable pro/cons from steadfast apply.

Agnitor:
Pro:
-base 7.5% extra hp, and able to roll another on the +0 line
Con:
-poor mana retention (but better than steadfast)
-no special random activation effect like regents/mayhem

All other applicable pro/cons from mayhem/regent apply.

As you can see you have a lot to choose from and whatever fits your play style CAN work- the level up weapon you received is from an instance called Labrynth of Nightmare, though It can also be dropped by Kelsaik from the instance Kelsaik's Nest that is for level 58's.

The CD reduction is really noticeable in pvp- because this is where you will be using most of your skills at endgame (most bosses become resistant to our CC at level 60, with some exceptions) and most noticeable in skyring 3 vs 3 pvp where mystics lock down enemy players to create openings in order to win, double CD stats here are great for mystics because the more yu can keep your foe locked down the easier it is to get a win. Its great on the offensive, but if you get pushed into the defensive by an equally powerful team it will be noticeable because of the slower attack speed.

All this data is awesome, thank you!

A friend I an recently chatted about all this and we thought about going after VM and VM2 gear. This would likely be somewhere down the road, and I did so some searches before adding it on to here..

I've tried to find what it would take to get VM and did find a good link, but there isn't much data about NightForge that I've found.. I did find a chart on this teratoday guide that has info, I'm a bit confused as to what the Xs mean, is that someone just doing a suggested roll mockup?
http://teratoday.com/tera-guide/tera-class-guide/tera-mystic-guide#dungeon-assault-gear-pvp
also havn't found much in terms of what their base stats are and how many rerollable stats they have.

in terms of PvP vs PvE gear.. do you know if the PvP gear's PvP stats and rollables are in-addtion to the normal ones or does it replace some lines?

and simply for sake of comparison lets say I've gotten WH Chest and WH-Keen weap, Strike Force Boots/Gloves, Zeinth Earing set and necklace with a pair of Nctum infused rings as you had suggested earler.

Thank you again for your help Mami, its nice talking'n to someone who really seems to get alll the mechanics and doesn't mind putting up with the high level curiosity of a newb

Wait, pressing the forward key while teleporting causes rubberbanding!?!?!?

Maybe that's why my jaunt never works.

The strikeforce pvp lines are in addition to the base stats from steadfast/wh. There are some differences between strikeforce and wh/vm2 chest and that is that strikeforce does NOT have a class specific stat like wh/vm2. The difference between vm2 and wh is that vm2 has 4 rerollable lines instead of wh's 3 (excluding the rollable class specific stat both have). The vm2 boots have an extrade 2 (3) base endurance line that wh/strikeforce/stead does not have. Vm2 pve gloves are useless to healers because the extra stat is a non-rerollable 3% damage increase and there is no healer version of said gloves like strikeforce, wh, and stead, I am unsure about the pvp vm2. Vm2 pve weapon loses the base 11 (14) crit that keen wh scepter has, but you gain the special stun skill- strikeforce is pretty much like the quick wh weapon, vm2 pvp is moreoless the same as vm2 pve but it loses the ability to roll crit rate and instead allows you to roll a line of pvp damage reduction.
