Hey,
I played around a fair bit in the BETA but never got further than beta stage 2 or 3 even due to IRL stuff hindering me, before I knew it TERA was released and I missed the release by weeks.
Though all of this was on the EU side I've asked around about the game and people seem to direct me towards the US servers rather than having me play on EU due to the community and frogster for some reason, which is sad to hear but I'm just after the 'better' gaming experience at the moment.
To get things started before the wall of text, I'm currently resided in Sweden with a 30/30mbit connection, once I move back to my place I'm back on a 100/100 or perhaps even 1000/1000mbit connection if the upgrades have gone through by then, so net-speedwise I'm in a good spot. However, seeing as I'll be playing from the other side of the world, how should I expect my latency? As TERA is a action mmo you kinda want the lowest possible delay.
So if any europeans are around feel free to fill me in on this part.
As with any other MMO the early start tends to be rather important if you want to get anywhere in a mmo, at least that how I've had it so far with all of the MMOs I've played so far. How would you say it's in TERA?
I've read around some of the forums pushing the regular 'dungeon finder issue' where people expect you to overgear the encounters by far before even letting you join in, but this was only on some servers... How bad is it really? So if I was to start say tomorrow, am I looking at a painful maxlvl gearing due to not being in the 'top geared' group / having a guild to help me out?
While I'm still at the gearing / leveling aspect of it all, what I never got to try out during the beta was the dungeon finder tool, this is probably the biggest 'selling point' for me and my buddy thinking of starting as dungeons were freaking awesome, I know people will say it gets just as repetitive as any mmo but I still enjoyed them far more than say WoW dungeons.
How would leveling through the dungeon finder be? Times / queues? (Again it's probably different on every server but still)
Regarding class balancing, the reason I'm asking this is because I've always managed to set my mind on the probably worst class in every game or simply the class most likely to be nerfed beyond oblivion.
Balancing is probably the hardest thing to do in mmo's, but how is it in TERA nowadays, is there any class that people just despise to group with and steam-roll over in pvp or is there any class that basically owns everything in it's path?
I did try out every class in the beta but I'm pretty sure it's changed up a bit since then.
Servers, now, we've not been able to decide whether to roll on PVP or PVE servers, I want to say "I'm sure it's not as bad as beta with ganks" but I'm pretty sure I'd eat those words fast.
In the beta if someone just 2-3 levels above you would come around being outlaw flagged you'd have no choice but to run since you usualy died in 1-3 hits. So how bad is the ganking across the board?
Also, how is 'world' pvp at max level?
I found dying rather punishing compared to other mmos with the stamina system, yet not a fraction what it was back in Lineage 2 with EXP loss. But being camped by a group of outlaws would probably get frustrating if it happens too often.
Regarding endgame, what is there to do once you hit max level? Other than the obvious of course with gearing / enchanting the gear.
To sum it up a bit, aka TLDR:
Is it 'too late' to start with TERA now?
Maxlvl-dungeoning, how harsh is it?
Dungeon finder leveling, yay or nay? (Compared to regular questing)
Class balance, is it somewhat balanced or plain horrible?
PVP vs PVE, Endgame? Ganks? Population?
(Note: Looking for constructive feedback even tho this thread might be stupid, I am very much considering this game, just need that last deciding factor)
Thank you for your time
