Better Gaming is better

I played wow for 4 years and stopped a year ago (due to the fact of the monotony and you only get a rush when and if you are about to wipe). Playing tera in beta has been so much fun and convinced me to pre-order. The graphics is better, the gameplay is better and the overall atmosphere is pleasant. I have read some forum topics saying that the game was not good enough because of comparisons to other mmo's.

I PREFER TERA BECAUSE:

I cannot afford to be careless while killing minions, because the average minion in this game is smarter than the average wow player. (pound pound pound click click click=win)
The environment is pleasant to the eyes.
The questing may look the same but it is not, it does not drag on and the story quest-line properly leads you to areas with zone quests and the amount of quests doesnt want to make you jump off a cliff.
One cannot simply just "blow through" a dungeon (ive finished 2 dungeons so far and the 2nd boss on the 2nd one was a pain, which is good)
The game does not revolve around the "im better than you, and my online epin is bigger etc etc) competition is good but only to a degree.
Armor and weapons look way better, they do not look like cardboard armor that we made as kids
(i play a lancer) the defense success icon that pops up every shield block is addicting to hear/see
the map system and being able to click important quest character names and know where they are is awesome and practical.

the crafting is good, tells you when something will not level your skill anymore and avoids wasting mats.
the abundance of mats.
the self sufficient i can do all crafting jobs.

my own opinion on the following things:

barely scrounged up 1 gold and some silver in island of dawn (also applies to all quest money rewards it is a tad too little, even the item resale) the scrolls are expensive :( too much gold is bad but too little of it makes me want to skin and sell poppori fur.

target of target in game add on would be quite nice for tanks/healer

i do not see a need for dps meters because placing and aiming properly outweighs how much damage you make. but a threat meter might come in handy.

the language filter seems to be drunk... i can say all curse words possible but i cant say
"look like" in succession -_-.

THESE ARE ALL STATED ON BETA TESTING AND IN NO WAY REFLECT RELEASED GAME.

i recommended the game to some of my wow buddies hopefully they see the light and start playing this instead. i just hope that the game earns enough revenue to prevent it from becoming free to play and force it to dumb down the quality.

Yeah this popped up at the right time for me. I have been away from wow a year myself but had the mmo pvp itch. I was going to get Cat and level my 2 favorite characters to 85 in anticipation of Mists. But I bought swtor first to try out the pvp and leveled to max level and got most of the BM gear but I was not happy with the limited pvp, so I unsubbed after the recent patch.

So I had D3 and Tera downloading at the same time and had not heard much about Tera at all. Blew through the D3 demo to Hardcore and then tried out Tera Friday afternoon. Took a little bit to get used to the aiming but I agree it is better than the tab targeting. Had I known about Tera I would have been eagerly waiting for it as I had an affinity for Lineage 2 and like the Asian styling and gameplay.

I thought I might wait for GW2 but after the open beta I was sold, many of the people in the Guild I joined were purchasing it and had not been in closed beta, I think open beta was a great sucess based on all the feedback I was seeing.

Looking forward to the open world pvp and the Guild vs Guild wars I also feel that the future battlegrounds will be a bonus.

Pve for me is just a side thing to do to get some items that pvp rewards do not provide, so pve does not excite me much. I look forward to Tera's continued development and hope it will not cater to the ones wanting it more like wow.

Personally, I LOVE the Combat! I even love it when a mob hits me... Because I know I was getting sloppy. Makes all the difference in the world for combat to be this way.

Unfortunately it seems some don't appreciate the restrictions of this system. Namely that you are locked into an animation until your attack is finished. They seem to want to jump around and "attack things in mid-air" because they've become accustomed to doing that in other games. But I see it differently. Yes, my attacks lock me into an animation. But the same applies to my opponents. So the system is "balanced".

I stepped into the Open Beta last week not really knowing what to expect. I don't trust advertising slogans and claims. Now I'm left wondering if there is anywhere else I will ever get the same experience. And I miss playing badly...

Oh well! Saturday can't come soon enough. :D

Let's hope it stays that way. As games mature, they tend to drift that way. Mostly because A-holes drive other people out.

I thought the same thing when I first saw it.

Unlike Chromius and Cannyone, I had been looking forward to this game for almost 2 years. It had taken so long to come to North America that I had almost given up on expecting to play it. The OBT was a real wake up call as to what fun a MMO could be. I miss playing as well. What's better is that I bought a new rig in preparation for D3 and maybe Tera (if it was any good). I'm glad I'll be putting it to good use now.

@Epeen: I am sure the game will get there. Just give it a few months. I don't see anything in Tera to prevent that from happening.

And lets hope that if it seems to start heading that way that the rest of the community do everything they can to shut those people down.Make them outcasts and the ones no one wants to work with.

That is one of the reasons I started to hate WoW.I played for 7 years and loved it except the community really ruined anything that was left of fun in the game.
