The difference is due to the fact that a warrior tank is the hardest class to play well in the game.
If the warrior is just DPSing, the rating is the same as slayer.
I dont pay attention to the ratings really and I dont believe they are necessary. All the classes would have different difficulty depending on the person playing them and that persons play style. Some people are going to find certain classes easier for them because of how they play them.
For example, Warrior has 5 star difficulty and Sorcerer has 2 star difficulty. Why such a disparity?
I leveled both to level 10 this weekend to get the feel and only thing I came up that it is easier to get hit as Warrior since you are in melee.
You won't feel the disparity at level 10.
Anyone can play any class to a mediocre level. To be competent and successful is what determines the ratings. On top of being the most demanding class while tanking during BAM fights (due to the required evasion of abilities with something other than Block), you also have a second skillset to learn with your DPS role. Additionally, you're not a master of any archetype, and therefore have to push your class's potential to be efficient and feasible.
yeah it's so hard to move around and make use of the abilities that your class is given. Just like everyone else has to do.
It's only hard because, especially Americans, see duel wield and automatically think OMGWTFBBQ bad [filtered] huge damage DD. And it's just not what the class is. So they label it hard to play.
Why have such a disparity in difficulty? My 2 favorite classes to play are among the most difficult. Although I haven't experienced the disparity. I assume it will be so in higher levels.
In past games, I found the obsession with class balance to be somewhat detrimental to PVE but also hate to be at a complete disadvantage because I find the warrior and mystic animations and game play more enjoyable. I hope warriors and mystics can find a place as off tank and support heals, or perhaps have their abilities brought inline with Lancers and Priests.

Haven't played yet, but I think I love the idea of certain classes being more difficult to play.
In EQ1 - in dungeon crawl / group settings, my Enchanter was far more difficult to play than a DPS class.
5 song twisting, fade pulling Bards were much more difficult to play than a Ranger with Endless Quiver.
I don't mind a desparity in skill level needed to play classes optimally. Really makes it fun when you find some friends online with equal skill levels, and playstyle to play effectively.
Rather than everything being ROFLSTOMP streamlined simple for some sort of watered down gameplay socialist equality.
Don't want to be challenged? Fine, play something easy. I usually find DPS classes boring as hell.
I'm currently playing a Scoundrel Healer in SWTOR for 1 reason. Because it is the hardest class to heal on. Sage is a breeze, and Trooper pretty easy also. I don't play MMO's because I want to do what's easiest, and collect digital items of no value. I play MMO's because I want to have fun, be challenged, and interact in a Large group setting to defeat common enemies or encounters.
I just want to comment that Fatwa is correct. Warrior tanks are the hardest class to play in TERA and the ratings are fairly accurate. In order to play a class well, at level 60, the ratings are accurate in terms of difficulty of mastering the classes at endgame. The only one I might disagree with is Archer, they should be a 3 or 4 due to the fact that they need to be at 6-10m range to have their highest dps, which means they need to be skilled at dodging in order to so. Most players will have difficulty with that.
