Hi everyone,

I pre-ordered a few hours ago and have the client downloading so that I can play in tomorrow's beta. I've been keeping an eye on this game for a while and finally decided on trying it out. The combat system does have me intrigued as I'm tired of conventional MMO auto-attack combat. It also holds the potential for more engaging PVP encounters.

I looked around and could not find any good information on class population numbers. It would be nice to know what the more/least popular classes are so that I don't roll what everyone else is and/or fill in some missing demand. I'm thinking of starting with a Mystic since I like casters and it seems to be the more unconventional of the three. I'd like to make a melee character as well to experience the combat system to the fullest. From what I've read, it seems like Warriors are overshadowed by the other classes. Does this still hold?

From an aesthetic perspective, are specific armor styles made for the different classes that share an armor category? More specifically, I noticed that while Mystics, Priests, and Mages all wear cloth, the character select screen gives them very different looking armors. Priest armor seems more regal, Mage more conventional and Mystic more, um, goth/dark I guess. Is that the way cloth gear favoring each of those three classes supposed to look or are they all ultimately interchangeable across the three classes?

Finally, the game client started downloading at ~2.2MBPs and has steadily decreased to ~60KBPs. Download estimate dropped from 4 hours to 3 days. At this rate, I'm gonna miss the entire beta event :-P. Is there any way to speed it up?

Thanks for any information. Looking forward to playing.

There was a thread that went over population info for the last closed beta. It had some nice information on race and class popularity.

The armors of the same type look the same. Only thing that you can use to easily differentiate all the classes wearing the same armor type are the weapons (I think). They're otherwise interchangeable.

For your game client...is your peer-to-peer on? Try turning it off. That helped speed things up when I was downloading it.

Thanks guys. Interesting how the class percentages change dramatically as the levels increase.

Just to answer your question about armor graphics - the way an armor looks on a character depends on 3 things: 1) The type of armor it is. 2) The gender. and 3) The race wearing it. Class doesn't really have anything to do with it.
Each race has their own "style", basically. So any armor they wear is going to match that style. That is why you will see the same set of armor look different on someone, if they are a different race.
To put it in basics:
If you have a female High Elf Priest and female High Elf Sorceror - they both wear cloth. If they put on the same armor, they will look identical.
However, if you have a female High elf Mystic and a female Castanic Mystic - they both wear cloth (Robe armor) but if you put the same armor on them (the same items) they will not look the same at all. Because the race style is different.

I hope that answers your question!

Thanks. That does clear it up. Only follow up to that is if certain looks are tied to stats that benefit a specific class that uses the same armor. For example, in WoW usually Warlocks wanted cloth with high stamina and spell power as opposed to mages that prefered cloth with intelligence and spell power. Is there a similar concept in Tera or will all casters benefit from the same stat distribution equally?

Same stats keeps gear simple, which is nice, but also increases competition amongst the classes that use it, which is not so nice.
