I decided I would purchase Tera tonight, and I've been contemplating the classes. I usually prefer melee, or some sort of physical damage, maybe even some tanking capability.. but I am not one to stray from rogue-type classes such as the archer (as it may be) as well.

I don't want the tasty flavor class that everyone picks so they can show off and fit in. I want a class that will require some personal effort in order to one-up my friends, who will likely take the flavor of the month classes.

What are your suggestions in this regard? I'm not one of those people who avoids the bandwagon just so they can look cool (in regards to class selection) I just don't like seeing a ton of my fellow class in every group I join or every street I cross.

Warrior, they are melee with the ability to tank if you are good. As a duel wield class they fit the rogue type pretty good too. If you look at each class when creating a new character, each is rated on difficulty to play with the warrior being the hardest. I leveled a warrior to 60, very fun class to play.

Agree, it sounds like Warrior will fit what you're looking for - as along as you're fine with taking on a class that is challenging to play well.
