yes you can upgrade but then you lose the 30 day free gaming trial and some other perks i think ... it tells you on the buy screen

Where did you see that? I have seen nothing to indicate that you lose anything by upgrading. The Preorder pages I've seen for the Upgrade only add things to your existing standard copy - the CE in-game stuff - Lion, ring, earring. Your standard edition of the game is where you get your 30 days free from, but they do specify that the upgrade itself does not come with a free 30 days (which makes sense since you must already have it).
So yes, Helladen, there is a digital CE upgrade available from the EME store, that you can add to your standard edition for like $9.99. However do note that it's possible that option won't be around forever, so don't wait too long! :)
