Its not about pve'rs being more sensitive.

I dont like to pvp, actually thats not true, what i dont like is gankers or people coming up on you when your fighting a BAM and attacking you, i mean really? you need a BAM to help you kill someone? whack.

But GvG is different, you will know that your guild is on pvp status for that day, so you can expect to get ganked and such.

But it will only be for that day, instead of grinding that day join some guildies and go do what your guild is doing and whoop some other guild butt! Once you win or lose, its back to whatever you where doing.

And it might not even last 24 hours, because it will only last 24 hours or until one guild gets 500 points and wins

Most PVE'ers don't like to PvP when its not on their terms, such as this person. There is the thought of "fairness" in a fight. Rules, Honor, blah blah blah. Where as PvP'ers (reall/hardcore) realize that there is no such thing as a fair fight. At the end of the fight there is one person left standing and another eating dirt regardless of tactic used.

That is the difference between the two.

I just won't play 'alone', or on a PvE server because I feel as if my freedoms are more 'restricted' if that makes sense. I always opt for a freer-er world.
How can you say that, when...

On PvE servers, we currently have duels and deathmatches (consensual team PvP match) in the world. We are currently working on guild vs. guild on PvE servers as well. :)
So basically...

Yeah. Playing on a PvE server isn't restricting your ability to duel with people and have fun with fighting other players. It's restricting your ability to be a douchebag and outright slay the sh** out of everyone you see for the hell of it, whether they want to fight you or not.

You've gotta have some real balls to complain about that...

I'm not complaining about anything. If Tera had a system that that there were only PvE servers, this thread would not exist - at least not one started by me.

Regardless, freedom is the choice to be a douchebag or not. Everyone has that choice on a PvP server. This choice can communicate various messages, and can be easily understood. I see open PvP as a sort of mechanic to create friends or enemies. How best to demonstrate your willingness to be allies than to not grief another, even when the perfect opportunity to do so popped up? How best to demonstrate your rage than to grief those who have caused you harm?

In the end, it is all up to the user to decide what level of interaction they wish to experience.

It is senseless to name-call since people do not typically see eye-to-eye on this subject matter and resort to, UR DUM statements.

Greetings Tera Community ~

My friend decided to devilishly hype me up on this game, then a few days later said to me, "BTW, I'm playing on a PvE server because I hate being ganked." Given that he should have known that I am a PvPer @ heart - he probably could have spared me the hype (I haven't played an MMO in about 3 years at this point, so it wasn't like I am actively looking to play in the first place - my first was L2, second was WoW, then AoC -- best PvP evar).

I am presented with the obvious scenarios. Roll PvP by myself (very unlikely), Roll PvE, convince my friend to roll PvP, or simply not play.

Can anyone elaborate how the PvP system has been in terms of ganking? Has there been tons of unnecessary slaughter by random groups looking giggles?

Likewise, how 'lame' or unlame are PvE servers?

I've read and understand the 'outlaw' concept, but it seems like the possibility is there for level 50+ to just stomp on level 12s if they wanted to.

I:

Want to try this game.
Would roll PvE if PvP is not vastly different (besides the whole, gank anyone anyone; will there be area's for mass PvP outside of battlegrounds? Much like Castles in L2?)
Would preferably convince my friend that 'its not that bad'.

Many thanks~
Minnus

I'm former L2 also. What server were you on? I was Seighart, clan White Wolf, Inner Circle ally etc. That game finally put a bad taste in my mouth for pvp. Although it's fun at times, it irritates me that everytime I left town I was f'n dead. I eventually just quit the game. I'm starting on pve server here, but will likely roll on pvp server too, to change it up some and re-visit.

this is pretty interesting. you should try out some pve with your friend just to have fun. you'll still get in some pk's and have fun with your friend. and yes, i know that feeling you have inside you Minnus. i have it at times too. the need to just go out and kill who ever is unlucky enough to walk into your line of sight. i'm sure everyone gets that feeling. the need to kill another player to establish the fact that you are stronger and more skilled than they are....until they come back with 10 of their buddies and beat the living **** out of you.

then you would be wrong on that account and killing someone random proves nothing. if you want to show your epeen which is what I take it then find someone that is considered a good player on the server not a random nobody.

lol. i like going around killing people at times, even helping them if i can. but there are just those moments you know. even though it's not morally right to go stomp on someone because you're bored (even though i do do it at times). but what i really wonder about is if you're on a pvp server and you're walking around and see a random guy who's fighting a BAM and losing badly and decide to go and help him and accidently miss the BAM and hit him, will he/she be mad that you kill him/her?

See the thing About BAM's that I've noticed is they take a very long time to kill. And its quite frustrating when someone comes up and starts trying to kill you when you have sunk like 15 min of constant battle into fighting something else. Your abilities are on CD, you are low on mana and what have you, hell you prolly have to hit the bathroom. and some guy comes out of no where and starts beating on you as well.

When I played wow I did play on a PVP server and yes it was quite fun when you somehow pulled off killing someone who jumped you while also having a mob trailing you. But in most cases it was pointless and infuriating. Also wow didn't have BAM's.

Now As I say, All is fair when they are around your lvl, no matter what they are doing. But when it comes to lowbies there should be some kinda protection. When you kill a lowbie to me it shows you lack skill and the Gonads to go up against someone more your lvl.

My rule. Is if they are 10 lvls lower than you go for it. Who knows they may pull something outta somewhere and whoop ya. 15-20 . if they team up your dead. 30 is to low. No contest.
