Dynamic events do actually get just as repetitive as questing, and there's little satisfaction in saving a village that apparently can't stop itself from getting attacked every 2 hours. At first it's amazing, but then it gets old and feels like another job. GW2 does a great job of disguising their questing system, but in the end there's almost nothing different from WoW/TERA/Rift/etc.
Their combat system has some new aspects, like attacks doing aoe and everything within the arc of your weapon/spell getting hit, but the actual combat as very, very little depth. The multiple weapons and different skillsets seem like a great idea, but the amount of aggressive skills you have feel surprisingly lacking, and the support skills (which a are a majority of the skills you can actually choose from) feel somewhat weak. A lot of the classes have the same exact mechanics, and there's little that separates a warrior from a guardian when using the same weapons, same with casters. Really the only truly unique class is assassin, but even that class felt lackluster with it's skillset.
Personally, as one who loved combat, I found GW2 to be surprisingly lackluster. It's beautiful and deep. I love the starting areas. However, it's combat is just so shallow (and there will undoubtedly be a "top dps" spec and a "best pvp" spec and so forth.) Meh. I won't be buying it myself...
