grind based or quest based?

Hello people, i have been waiting for this game since lineage2 became unplayable for legit players. I actually prefer the leveling grind and crafting of lineage2 as apposed to endless questing of WoW. which of these examples would you say closely resemble tera do you think?

Please say questing. WoW has really come a long way with their quest structure. I thoroughly enjoyed leveling my main and a few alts, especially from level one. The flow of experience never seems too much or too little and the storyline has always been excellent. Hopefully Tera follows suit and incorporates questing as the main leveling mechanic.

From what I understand it is quest based....

Here comes my thoughts, as influenced by heresay and forum posts. Take it with a grain of salt!

Tera is a quest-based grinder.

I've read that there are more quests available than you will be able to complete. But I have also read that the majority of quests are of the type, "go here and kill xx <monster name="true">". So you will be spending a lot of time running back and forth to quest NPC's.

The good news is that the leveling curve is fairly forgiving. Someone put it at ~200 hours to reach max level.

Also keep in mind that you don't have to do the quests and you can level just by killing mobs and grinding if you prefer. I believe there are repeatable quests as well if you wanna go that route.

The repeatables allow you to kill more than the number listed and still give you credit. So if you wanted to grind repeatables you could kill 100 of something instead of just 10 and it will automatically scale the experience to 10x completed.

Or at least thats how it was Korean side....

Yea, i'm hoping they keep this feature in too.. Beats going back and to turn in and accept again..

Tera is probably one of the most Westernized, Korean MMO i have played... Aion was ok but still hold over the HARD Korean grind..

I've always preferred mob grinds, that beign what the bulk of my online gaming experience was from MUDs anda couple of MMO's.

My main dislike of quest-based (which really my first experience with was WoW) is wanting to actually enjoy the quests, that was fine in Vanilla.
But when I played again in Cataclysm (kind of a long gap there..) theres so many quests, and all the thought they put into these quest-chains and exploring the zones is gone, because the game rushes you to level cap so GD fast.

That can be your point of view but to others it may be different. Do note that Tera is filled with elite mobs that can take prolong periods of time to kill and people might want to feel that they accomplished a lot. I'm in for an above average exp rate that can get you to the max level in a few weeks or so. Besides, the level cap will be raised as more content is released just like KTERA.

Lineage2 became mostly unplayable to legit players about time time WoW first launched.
i know i played it from beta to WoW's launch and off and on for a year after.

i loved the grafix and pvp. and did not mind the grind.
Aion had lovely grafix and my wife when gaga for the wings and fashion sets. but the bots and gold spam killed it for us. and 0 customer support.

Wow became to easy. and to many kids. But it is were i met my lovely wife.

I don't mind a grind. As long as i have people to chat with and NO bots to compete with.
