Enchanting and Unsealing Improvements

All this will do is further widen the gap between levels in PvP. Think it's fun being 1 shotted by a player 4 levels above you? ...with this you will now be 1 shotted by a player 2 levels above you with an over enchanted weapon since they will be more common.

not sure about this one EM. i personally felt the enchanting system was fine the way it was.

i welcome these changes and i might say i am very suprised(and quite impressed at this point) by EnMasse. especially the second part seems like a very good decision as it will help people to customize their character stats and maybe allow more diverse playstyles. it will also add a bit more transparency to the mechanics when much more accessible gear will allow for lots of experimentation. the changes will IMO also ultimatively help with pvp balance for the same reasons.

and contrary to the voices fearing devolving of in-game economy i actually think this change will make it stronger as people will enchant anything and everything they can, because now it might even make sense to do so.

Hello, TERA community!

Over the last few months we have been working on a lot of changes to make TERA better for our audience. Some of them have been implemented into the game already as seen in our closed beta test patch notes. But we have more improvements coming our way and among them we have some great news to share with you on enchanting and unsealing systems!

Improved Enchanting
Certain items can be enchanted in TERA to increase its effectiveness. The change we will be implementing is the removal of the chance that an unsuccessful enchanting attempt will decrease the item's enchantment level. This means once you earn that enchant level it is yours to keep. In order to offset this change we have introduced 3 tiers of Alkahest powders: one for enchant +1 to +6, one for +7 to +9 and one for +10 to +12. Obviously the cost of powders will be increased at each tier. Our goal here was to keep the cost for getting these items similar but remove the frustrations that random numbers can cause and let you keep what you have already earned.

Improved Unsealing
In TERA, you can receive random attributes by unsealing an unidentified item. Then the item can be re-sealed and unsealed again until you receive the attributes you want. We are adding the ability to ‘lock’ the desired attributes earned from Identifying Enigmatic items. This lets you change the attributes you choose while letting you keep the ones you want. You can repeat the process until you receive all 3 or 4 attributes you wish. This should help eliminate the frustration felt of getting that exact combo you want on your items.

We will be sure to update you with more information as they become available and we appreciate your feedback. These changes are the results of the feedback we've received from you and we encourage you to keep sharing your thoughts!

Currently canceling my account i dont feel like playing another mmo just like all the rest reason i wanted this game was the difficulty and the fact its not like NA mmo's now its just going back to wanting to be another mmo just without the tab click.

lol, this isnt the way the change is intended. the way it was before, someone the same level as you would 1shot you because they got lucky and had a +12 weapon, whereas you didnt get lucky, spent 3x as much gold, and you only got to +4. now, the rng isnt as bad, so instead of him having a +12 and you having a +4, you now have a +10 or +11, and now stand a chance of beating him.

while levels in this game are not balanced, this change will have no effect on it. if you complain that the ppl 4 levels above you will have super enchanted gear... feel free to enchant your gear.(it wont make a difference, because it is the level that causes the imbalance, not the gear).

well, on the other hand, you now will be able to slap a couple of enchants on your gear, if you do some BAMs from time to time, and be able to compete a bit better with those who just got their golds or are of a higher level. especially as you will be able to at least get the right stats on your stuff.

with the old system you'd be utterly lost to anyone whose itemlevel is higher than yours and who already had to chance and luck to get the right stats and some + on their stuff. now, at least you can spend a bit of gold on getting some bonuses like attack speed, pvp protection and run speed to access the basic potential of your class.

K So reading through some of these comments I'd just like to say to Enmasse -

THANK YOU - You've officially ruled out all the ignorant wannabe Tera fanatics and trolls.

I'm very happy you keep making changes. These changes only show all of us hardcore Tera Fan's, how many troll happy ignorant morons have been test driving the servers for us.

Let them cancel! I'll be happy when they've all gone back to whatever elitist game they were playing before CBT's started.

GOOD RIDDANCE >

I think this is a HORRIBLE move EM, I don't mind the enchanting as much, but luxing (optimal identifications) is supposed to be an extremely difficult thing that is only possible with a lot of time and effort. If you run with this change, everyone will be running around with +12 luxed equipment, and there will be little to know difficulty in the game anymore, especially at endgame. I

I can understand that you guys want to cater to the casuals a well, but this is just going overboard. There will literally be nothing to do for players who actually spend time in the game. I can guarentee that if you pass these changes, less than a month into release a large number of the players will already be completely capped in terms of level and items. With everything +12 and luxed.

This is extremely bad business practice as it means that hardcore players who went into this game for the challenge will be extremely disappointed and will quit after the first month or at max two due to completely running out of content.

Even in kTERA that has been out for many months, luxing is supposed to be a very difficult thing that not everyone is able to do. Even after a year, seeing people with luxed gear is a rarity. Something to be proud of.
If you apply these changes, it will completely ruin the endgame for TERA.

Can someone help me understand the mentality behind this? Why are people up in arms about enchanting being the "hard" part? Shouldn't getting the item in the first place through content that actually requires grouping and skill be the "difficult" part?

EME can we PLEASE get a poll going on about these things? Hell a survey would be nice.

You know they could have also addressed the issue by making it so that sacrificing crafting items give the added bonus of no downgrade penalty if they really wanted to make crafting more useful and allow for a tweak to the enchanting system. Then all they would have to do is slightly adjust the materials drop rate and wha-la crafting is now useful!

Crafting apparently gives you the best endgame gear atm, I'd call that useful.

Nothing has changed -losing levels on your enchants ..... they even increased the prices on powders for each level set so that it takes the same amount of money, I don't get why everyone seems to think that enchanting has changed by some godly amount catering to the casual player. The RNG is exactly the same except you don't get mad because your weapon fell a level.

The changes to re-sealing is a great one everyone I ever heard talking about it hated how hard it was to get the right stats and this could save lots of money for everyone to spend in enchanting lululul making the game easier which everyone seems to have some retarded problem with... cause gettting the right stats randomly takes skill and will ruin the game if its easier amirite?
