Except the chance of success is lower in the new system. So while you dont get the -1's, you also dont get the +1's nearly as often.

I missed the part where they said that you don't get +1's as often? Can you quote it please?

If you're correct and you don't get the +1's, people buy 50 powders from the merchant, then sit there for about 10 minutes max and press enchant until they level the weapon/armor up. How do they do this? Because anyone can level and item when COIN is the only thing that's stopping them. Gold sellers feed on this kind of system.

I'm not sure how people can't see how this system is clearly flawed. When EVERYONE can get to +12 relatively easy there is no point having that system in place. The above post is spot on when they say "When everyone is super, no-one will be". TERA is still a gear-based game, with some skill involved in the combat. If it wasn't a gear-based game then you wouldn't be farming dungeons and quests in order to get gear and level. Pure skill-based games mean everyone has the same gear, the same level, the same abilities, etc. TERA is NOT one of those games. Don't try to make it into something that it's not.

Yeah, and this is the other point. It significantly cheapens what it means to have +12 gear. To quote Syndrome: "when everyone is super, no one will be".

Woah, woah, woah, hold the phone.

Everyone will try and enchant their gear.

You wanna be original? Want to be an oddity? Someone that is truly rare?

Why don't you NOT enchant your gear. How many people you think will have +0 gear?

There. Problem solved.

You talk like the terms 'pro' and 'casual' actually matter (hint: they don't)

I fail to see how the new enchanting system makes it so enchanting to +12 is easy now? You don't go down a level anymore, so what... i thought in Ktera you could buy powders that pretty much prevented that from ever happening anyway? unless thats misinformation.

Regardless, you can still fail right? it just stays at +0. If you can still fail, you still have your risk... how is not going down a level automatically making it so "everyone will have +12"? :o Not ridiculing, honestly just don't understand what people are thinking. Theres still a risk.. or just not 'enough' of a risk? O.o

I personally like the changes. It costs more money for powders, you can still fail, so you dont just enchant 12 times and boom! +12...
As long as things don't start to become 'instant' like in wow (for example, if i want Power Torrent on my weapon in WoW.. well its just one go and im done, making it meaningless), then its fine.

I'm not speaking in terms of who's a better player. I am speaking about time management. A casual player that gets two hours to play won't have time to earn the gold to upgrade their weapon while the Pro players who have 10+ hours will do that and more. FF14 has a system in place to keep casuals somewhat as powerful as pro's however Tera does not. This update will only further that gap.

The risk is simply losing money and time. Something that can be in abundance of when in guilds that toss gold around. This Pro guild does this dungeon 50 times giving them 15 gold weapons that none of them use. They sell for a lot of gold. They use that gold to buy powders and weapons to keep spamming weapon enchanting until they hit +12. Like I stated. It's time management. If you fail it doesn't go back to 1. It just stays at +8 until you enchant works.

so is that bad?. keeping everybody close to each other in terms of gear is bad?... more if u have worked for it(not like you get it for free no work/raids/battlefields involved).

if everyone has almost the same quality gear, THEN only then this will be a truly skill action mmo.

and now that i remember, a lot of people where complaining about the "gear" factor in pvp, problem solved!

While I hear where you're coming from, TERA will never be purely skill-based. Nor should it be. It's not an FPS. There are levels, there is gear, there are abilities, there is an enchanting system. All these things have to be earned, and all create differences that transcend player skill, and they're all there for a very good reason.

I don't know how many people here played the original Guild Wars, but they actually had a system where if you were interesed in pure skill-based PvP, you could create a level-capped character with uber gear right off the bat. You'd then be whisked off to an area of the game solely for this type of gameplay. Very smart IMO.

Aion enchanting system was so RNG that they probably lost a third of their players over it. When people earn the money and then use it to enhance/socket and up worse that they started it is NOT FUN.

If over time everyone ends up with +12 well it just keeps the game that little bit more balanced in my opinion :D

#2 down, sorry i dont know how to link directly to the post.

It doesnt say word for word that, but it implies heavily that it is the case.

How can the cost be the same if they remove failures with out counter balancing it to also remove some of the success?
