Looking For Group and Instance Matching

So for now.

Someone that uses a button to auto-que is getting rewards and increased drop rates etc.

While someone who goes out of there way to be involved in there server community and find a server specific group is being punished without those rewards....

Seriously En Masse, you claim you listen to feedback. But are you really? There are a ton of people on here that didn't want Cross-Server LFG tools and all that. There are even community members that tried to come up with compromises with the player base that wanted these types of systems. Yet those threads never saw a representative from En Masse in them.

Going off the beta, nobody had any trouble getting grouped up for instances...and if they did it was because they were bad in previous groups and nobody wanted to group with them. Thats what community is. If this type of system is needed down the road...sure go for it. But right now, its not.

Compromises from other players/threads/posts:

  • Allow LFD tool without instant teleporting but allow Cross Server.

  • Allow LFD tool that que's you automatically but doesn't port you to the instance or is Cross Server

  • Allow the LFD tool on PVE servers, since its a PVE tool, and refrain from putting them on PVP servers.

  • Allow LFD tool, but create huge benefits to creating parties/groups from the same server.

  • Create a mentor system with incentives to help lower level players, and keep LFD tool out.

All of these were great idea's to satisfy both sides to a degree, that is what compromise is all about.
Instead we weren't even given any sort of acknowledgement that En Masse was even listening to those suggestions.

Honestly, you guys are being cry babies over one tool, how about TRYING it first before whining?

When did MMO players become so entitiled for every damn thing? En Masse has tried to give EVERYTHING you people whined about, from the removal of trivial things like boxes, to pet shops, and then implemented big changes such as giving you owpvp from lvl 11, re-modeling enchanting, and adding more loot and bonuses, and just because they removed that 2 to 5 minute walk from a safespot (you probably teleported to via teleport girl) to an instanced zone via the LFD, you are calling doomsday prophecy's of Tera and making threats of playing GW2?

Meh, if you're not happy, just click the cancel pre-order button and go (We wont miss your tears!) or play the GW2 you people tend to continue to glorify about, or find that MMO that caters to your every want and desire, which probably has failed because guess what? It doesn't exist.

You know the only reason cross server lfd was ever invented was for games where a server would have a low population, and thus have problems with getting group for people.

The solution to this is much simpler than adding a cross server lfd program, though maybe more expensive.

    Just have fewer servers.

Instead of many small cheaper servers... and a few big servers. Then we wont need cross server lfd.

    have 1 PVE, 1 PVP, 1RPPVE, 1 RPPVP.

    Sorted.

It can be done, EVE online is bassicaly one server ..granted it uses server blades for regions to help even the load and reduce lag. But its possible.

Cross server stuff always causes problems for the community. its bad enough people feel the need to act like completed [filtered] heads when online in general ..becouse its online,, but with cross server stuff it just adds another level of 'protection' for those who wanna act even more like a [filtered] than normal.

EME, you said you wanna be somthing new.. somthing different from other mmo companies. Stop doing what every other publisher or developer is doing. Do things the correct/best way .. not the easiest.. or cheapest way.
You've already shown us that you 'want' to make tera a 'hardmode' and 'challenging' game and yet you've already failed on that, going by CBT's.
    Atleast get this done correctly.

Easier solution is just to make the damn tool work right. First 15 mins, tool tries to form the group using current server only. If unable, then it resorts to cross-server.

Promotes community while still catering to the people who don't have tons of time to sit around waiting to get a group going.

I think LFD is a great idea I fully agree with having it. The problem is in how it has been implemented. Penalizing friends/guilds for grouping together while rewarding grouping with strangers is asinine. MMO's Are supposed to reward you for organizing and playing with your guild, not punish you. The rewards for using the LFD tool are too great to ignore and put you at a disadvantage for not using it. I don't need to "try out" the system to realize this, all it takes is common sense to see what it is doing.

The easy way to fix this whole issue and make everyone happy is just allow 5 mans to que up. Problem solved. Also people crying about how LFD ruins "community" is the most retarded thing I have ever heard. You know what really ruins community? People NOT being able to easily find dungeon groups then getting fed up and then leaving the game. THAT ruins community.

EME really.... 216 posts on this thread in which 90% or more of the posts are against the way LFG was implemented. Or even agaisnt it?

So, if you really wanted our opinions on it, you have it, so why not take it out / change it?

I suppose you want to keep game alive, and both the harcore and the casual players to like this game. We are not asking to noob down the game. its exact opposite.

I Wonder if you even care what we think, since there have been threads about this for a long time now, and ppl didnt want LFG cross-server nor buffs nor extra loot...

Really if you do care and this thread didnt enlighten and you dont decide to remove it. Just create a freaking voting pool for 24 hours and you will have your statistics

I have tried it. In just about every game out and it isn't needed/kills server community. So while I am speaking from experience having played games with and without. I know that games without such features end up with a better game wide community then games with.

I quit SWTOR because it lacked a LFD tool.

I played on a server that started off with a heavy population. Over time the population dropped to standard, and then finally to light. It got to the point where the average population on the republic fleet was less than 20 at the times I played. So I was forced to restart on another server. On the new server, I still experienced difficulty forming groups. After getting to 50 and maxing my character, I quit the game. The reason? I did not want to have to go through the difficulty in forming groups for Flashpoints again.

Prior to SWTOR, I played Rift. Looking back, the LFD tool in that game was a glorious thing. Being queued for a dungeon while questing is a very liberating experience. Often times, I'd queue with people I met while questing. So I don't understand where this lack of community criticism is coming from.

If LFD tools are so bad, why does WOW have millions upon millions of players?

Because Blizzard really can sell their product. If you think having millions of ppl makes a game better than another , go play wow then. Wow has been becoming a noob game since early / mid tbc. Players will play it for as long as blizzards desires. Doesnt make wow better than any other MMORPG

Actually this is the one thing I don't agree with. Now, I do think having the actual drop rates increased for PUGs is stupid, and from what others have said in the thread, it doesn't look like that's going to happen so that's a good thing. Offering other small perks like consumables and mats for PUGGING though? That's a good thing. The community extends outside of one's own guild, and so many people don't give a damn about it. Once they have their guild, that's all they'll ever run with.

I was a Temp (tank) in AION, and after people made their first few runs of BT (endgame instance) and learned the content, they ran it mostly with their guild (legion). Eventually that led to quite a few noob PUGs not being able to fill out their groups, so I got in the habit of doing a noob run once a week just to help some of the peeps out, and wish more people would have done the same. Ironically, I'll bet that at some point one of the statics was short a member and probably used one of the people I trained so they'd be able to run.

So ya, I'm all for motivating people to go outside their comfort zone and PUG more often, so long as the motivation isn't ridiculously stupid.
