I am very disappointed to hear that Tera is adding a cross server LFD tool.

I used to really enjoy another major MMO namely WoW that implemented a LFD cross server tool. I felt that totally killed the game. People didn't care what they did in a dungeon because the chances of running into you again were very slim. It also destroyed the server communities. I made less friends after the LFD tool was implemented because if you played with someone cool they were usually from a different server and the chances you ever see them again were virtually zero.

Anyways this is just how I felt things went and one of the major reasons I left that game. Also as a side note because of this I am debating now if I want to cancel my preorder which is disappointing because I was enjoying the combat style in this game. Which isn't meant to be a threat just how I feel personally about cross server LFD tools in MMO's.

Don't let this bother you too much. Only the extremely casual players will use the LFD cross server tool. I have the same feelings as you and that's why I won't use the LFD cross server tool.

As a long time World of Warcraft player, and an avid PvP'er, I have to say this is the worst idea En Masse has announced since I started following TERA.

So far, TERA has provided some of the most fun I've had on an mmorpg since WoW first came out. This game is new, fresh, beautiful, and just plain fun! I love every aspect of the game, both PvE and PvP.

As the IMS may be a great addition for those who like to instant queue into dungeons, and never leave major cities, it is an AWFUL idea for the PvP community.

Take Blizzard Entertainment's complete destruction of their World PvP for example. The day they introduced the Cross-Realm Instance Finder was the day I stopped enjoying the world PvP. Once you attain level cap, you will no longer have a need to leave a major city, aside from doing a daily quest, or "Nexus Event". This means that finding your way to a dungeon has no threats involved what so ever.

Not only will this take away from the level cap experience. It will take away from the low level PvP as well! Again, using WoW as an example, once this system was put into effect, at least 80% of the community switched from "Questing" to level, and started spamming the instance queue for easy leveling. This means 80% less random PvP encounters. 80% less FUN in the game!

I know that someone who only PvEs will have a different view on this, as it does make their lives easier, and even more fun as this means more times fighting in dungeons rather then looking for groups, but this mistake has already been proven by Blizzard Entertainment to truly ruin the World PvP experience.

I will definitely give the game a shot with the new system in place, but I'm sorry to say I will have to begin my MMO search anew if history repeats itself (which it usually does).

To En Masse entertainment, I highly recommend reconsidering the introduction of the Instance Matching System.

I have played alot of MMO's through the years andi still think X-server dungeon finder is great these days. Alot of us work and dont have time to sit around and spam LFG for a hour. I like to que, get my fun done and head out to work or whatever. If its a feature you dont like, dont use it, the rest of us will appreciate it.

sorry people but a dungeon finder has become mandatory for the casual fan base (god knows swtor could of used one). good on en masse for realizing this.

As far as Instance ques go i think they are good when you can't find someone from your server to go with. ((definitely for certain times of day)) However most the times i get qued are almost instant which would be awsome if someone wasn't always dead, can't load in, or leaves before it even starts. Then on reque ((requing with the same number of people i was waiting 2 minutes with)) i end up waiting over a hour to fill the same group and can NOT fill with someone from our servers that would like to come. Making the experience easier on everyone. Also i think there should be set loot roll so you don't have to worry about people ninjaing. Perhaps class specific loot rolls by default?

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Most people didn't stick to towns in WoW while queued, especially not if they were looking to level through dungeons. They got a group (friends or randoms) and just ran dungeons over and over and over again.

Take SM for example: without the tool, you'd have the entire party head from UC to SM (ooohh, big hike!), then just run one wing over and over until they can run the next one. The only times they would be vulnerable would be their run across Tirisfal Glades and the few seconds from then running into the instance again.

In TERA, I remember reading that there were PVP safe zones around the instance entrances. So, the only time there would be open PvP would be from town to the dungeon entrance... OH WAIT! TERA allows you to teleport to different places around the map. So, the distance where people would be in danger is even smaller.

So, I'll say this once more, as I've said time and time again, THIS WILL NOT KILL OWPvP!!

In fact, think about the alternative:
Without the tool, someone needs to be in town or at the instance entrance to put a group together. So, let's compare the two:

WITH the tool
-People enter the queue.
-Now, people are free to move around:
---Either stay in town to craft, buy/sell at the Trade Broker, etc...
---Or go outside of town and do quests, grind mobs, etc... all the while being in danger of PvP
-Queue pops and they get teleported to the dungeon.

WITHOUT the tool
-People head to town and start shouting for a group.
-While trying to put a group together, people are forced to stay in town, so they can only:
---Stay in town to craft, buy/sell at the Trade Broker, etc...
-They get a group together, take the pegasus to the area, teleport to an area very close to the dungeon, and have a short walk of danger.

So really, OWPvP won't be happening much one way or another while people are running dungeons.

I absolutely loved this system. Honestly, I was so happy when I found I could queue up from freaking velika and get ported to the instance, I was like omg this is so great, an mmo where I can actually spend most the time PLAYING the game rather than waiting the play the game until some people saw my shouts and needed the same thing I did.

My only complaint is that dungeon lockouts for NOT using the system I felt were way too long. I don't see any problem at least with the low level instances in letting us grind them. The level 50-60 dungeons I could understand wanting to restrict end game gear a bit, but really, let us level up in the low level ones without having to wait 40 minutes in between runs plz.

But you're trying to refute a fact of what happened in WoW.

When people queued for dungeons, all they did was stick in towns, unless I'm misunderstanding your point about that? First hand experience, plenty of my friends just alt tabbed until an instance was found. There was no low level PvP at all after the finder was introduced.
The people that I talked to across PvE and PvP servers didn't talk about that big of a change. On PvE servers, most people were out questing while waiting for the queue to pop. On PvP servers, I've heard mixed things of people going out and questing or others staying where it's "safe"... yet, most of the ones that played it "safe" tried to avoid OWPvP at all costs, so I have no idea why they were on PvP servers to begin with. Then again, I didn't play a PvP server in WoW, so I'm sure they probably didn't notice a difference for being mostly max level.

In TERA, running to instances such as SB and SM give plenty of opportunities for the open world PvP. For CR, there is no Open World PvP in the slightest. You can claim that it's such a short walk to both SB and SM, but in that short distance plenty of fighting happens nearly every single time. You can pick and choose what instances to give a case by case basis, but the majority of them provide Open World PvP. It will be destroyed if you allow the teleportation to happen.
So, you already mention that there is little OWPvP in the current system when people are running dungeons, and that people can pick and choose to make sure they encounter the least amount of OWPvP, yet this change is apparently going to destroy OWPvP? What happened to PvP while leveling and doing quests? Or, is TERA like WoW that people just level on running dungeons over and over again?

Your comparison of the With/Without tool is just plain wrong. It makes me wonder if you've actually played TERA.

No one is forced to stay in town when putting a group together, you should know this if you've played the game. The LFG chat channel is server wide. The LFG tool, not instance matching, allowed application based grouping that could be used any time from any where.
Is the LFG channel added just in OBT, because whenever I was in Velika throughout the CBTs, I saw people all the time shouting for parties. (I didn't have any time to play for the OBT and barely got off Noob Island)
