I agree with CalamityXI, I am very disappointed in the collectors edition. The picture of it looks a lot better than what we got. I feel like we got tricked. The compass quality seems really poor. scratches around it.
I wish they would compensate for the poor quality by giving collectors some more digital items

I'm not sure what people expected. I peronsally like the compass and the map, but the "artbook" (federation handbook) wasn't quite an artbook. I'll admit it wasn't anywhere near as well thought out as the EU box, but there was no trickery involved.
On the other hand, we get great service with EME, whereas I found a lot of outcry about Frogster's lack of feedback/support/unwillingness to give refunds. So there's the trade off in my opinion. Good game experience vs good physical CE stuff.
As for in game items, I think the current items are already game breaking as it is. With the addition of free weapon skins just for early adoption of the game, I'm finding it hard to whine and complain about the NA CE box.
I still call shenanigans because of the fact that we are clearly shown 1 thing(and nowhere on the box does it say that the contents may differ from the picture) and then given something else.

Did you even LOOK at the promo picture? it shows what can nothing other than an artbook/handbook with a hardbound cover. And we got a brochure quality pamphlet instead. Once again, we get the shaft.
why can't we have BOTH? I don't get it. The Us 9 out of 10 times gets shafted for CE compared to EU or even Japan for that matter. Japanese are notorious for CE goodies collecting. I want the EU collectors for the better stuff but im not paying nearly 250 US dollars for it. I found one on ebay and the guy was charging 98 bucks US for shipping. GTFO with that.

I'm surprised by the question you're asking and your comment regarding "no trickery involved". Let's try to make it clear.
On the left we have a hardcover book. In relation to the other objects in the photo, it looks to be about an inch thick, which is roughly 400 pages at that size (although that depends on the thickness of the paper). It is the image of the handbook that was advertised both on the website AND the back of the CE box (for anyone doing an in-store purchase)
On the right we have a softcover booklet bound together by two staples, roughly 50 pages. You can not see this until you open the CE box, at which point retailers will no longer accept returns.
Why the bait and switch? I mean, if that is not a bait and switch, what is? If I sold you this book on Ebay using the picture on the left, and you paid $20-$25 for it (the typical price of a hardcover), and you received the item in the picture on the right, exactly how many seconds would it take you to file a complaint with Ebay for a refund?
Also there is no way that the map depicted in the picture(which you can see a little bit of it in the picture EdgeTO put up) is the weird papery thing that we got.
That Federation Handbook is really disappointing. The picture in the advertisement below is clearly a hardcover book that's probably at least an inch thick. What they're sending people is a two-staple pamphlet with a handful of pages. I don't understand why we allow game companies to get away with that sort of deceptive practice.
And that map in that image is folding more like cloth than the paper it actually is. (sigh) I remember when CE's used to actually contain cloth maps.
It was next to impossible to get any detailed information on the physical items inside the CE. Now I understand why.
