Bored while watching Married with Children late at night. And im curious, what do people think about the supposed end of the world.

I wonder what every one thinks could happen. There are just so many different ways the world could end.

Personally i feel its not very likely, sure the world could end, but i highly doubt it will be on that specific date. Its just too prophecy sounding, too many ones an twos in order.

I also think if any thing were to happen it would be something scientific not religious. Asteroid strike, solar flare, or something they would be able to see from their temples. I also kind of wonder if the world ended based on their calendar would it be the world as we know it, or the world as they knew it, which im sure much much smaller.

Edit- Forgot to say, even if nothing earth shattering happens i do kind of think there will a group of people to do something. Mass suicide, maybe terrorist attacks. Something.

I don't wanna be offensive or anything to what others believe but could you tell me how many end of the world dates we had last year alone? I believe there was 2 big ones(the rupture thing) yet we are still here while guy made 100 million from 'not so smart' people who believed in words he was saying. In my country there's saying ''The naive being bulled even in church'' This was literally the case.

It should be general rule by now that end of the world is just 'legal' scam to milk fools money. They present arguments which almost anyone could debunk by just going to college. There's no debt nor scientific in any of those.

What'll happen on 12/21/12?
The Mayans will finally need to buy a new calendar.


I wonder if, in the future, people will find our calendars and use them as doomsday predictions...

THE WORLD ENDS ON 12/31/31021!!

I don't care what happens. We're all going to die someday. Although I don't believe it will be due to the Mayan Calendar coming to an end. I think it will be a Zombie Apocalypse! (Actually, we're already in one, the majority of human beings on this planet are mindless undead shells.)

Just in case though, Stocking up on water and basic supplies. I live by a lake so that's good. Just hope 'Ol Nessie doesn't eat me when I dive in.

Well, other than how vile,disgraceful and generaly 'virus like' i find the human race to be ..hmm dont get me started :P

But on a a different note.. who wouldnt wanna be around when the end comes ..to know that you were there at the end ..to see the end...right before you die ofc ..even still ..that would make me feel privileged :)

Does the phrase "Self-fulfilling prophecy" mean anything to you? I believe it is/will be an adequate description.

there will be an end of the world, but it will happen when the sun dies. the end of humans will be much much sooner, but certain species will manage to survive. if its the end of the human race your talking about with your little 2012 prediction, its not gonna happen. its impossible that every human will die out in a single day unless something major happens like a meteor strike or several, even then we would be able to see it coming and someone would find a way to keep atleast some people alive through it.

The world would be better off without people at least. NCSOFT trying to postpone Tera till the world ends. Evil men...

There have been about 514 Leap Years since Caesar started it in 45BC. Without the extra day every 4 years today would be July 28, 2013. Also the Mayan calendar did not account for leap year.. so technically the world should have ended 7 months ago.... moving on with out lives!

Fact:
Seriously though, the Mayan numerical symbol system was not capable of expressing any further dates then where it ended.
It's our own damn fault that archeologists cant find the second tablet, which pikes up where the first one ends.
