I upgraded also but did so on a budget.

EVGA GTX 560 170$ - 15$ rebate - 155$
Asrock z68 extreme 3 gen3 mobo - 121.99 - 10$ sale - 111.99
Intel I5 2400 cpu- 169.99 - -10$ sale - 159.99
Gskill 1600 ddr3 8gb ram - 45.99 - 6$ sale 39.99
Raidmax - 850 watt gold rated psu -109.99 -20 sale - 10$ rebate - 79.99
A few Apevia Fans -2.50$ each during a sale lol

Harddrives - kept old ones - 1tb, and a 250gb.
Case - Kept my old case everything fit.
Monitor - kept asus 27"
Keyboard - kept old one 10$ walmart special lol
Mouse - kept old one - Reaper Edge

So after all my rebates come in hoping they all do -.- spent a lil over 550$ think came out to 562 somethin, only had to pay shipping on one thing which was like 4$. Newegg ftw.

I bought it all over the period of a month 1/2 checking newegg everyday for sales and specials which they have ALL the time.

So anyone else looking for a budget comp that will run everything out now I did a lot of research checking benchmarks etc and came up with all that its all very close to the more expensive stuff albeit if you like to overclock you will prob wanna get different stuff I dont bother you will spend another 150-200$ tho easy.

What matters for gaming from highest to lowest priority check-list (rough and highly personal opinion network removed)

memory bottleneck
Cpu clock - interchangeable with gpu specs depending on game
GPU Pixel Fill Rate / Texture Fill Rate - interchangeable with cpu specs depending on game
memory clock
Enough room to store game
sequential storage R/W
Reduced background load OS
screen
Sound card
peripherals
Cpu cores
Aesthetics

My point being it is amazing how many people will tell me every day at work "I have 16 gig of ram" then they pause like it is some kind of... important thing they just told me. I normally try to smile.

EDIT: Oh.. brand names make me :( Individual products can shine, the companies do not. When someone wants to know your specs, tell them specs of relevance. Not about the Logitech G15 custom color decals. They want to know about the specs.

I so ranted then huh....

$2,133 with a razer amansi keyboard.
Yeah i like the case because it's very accessible. You don't have to dig your way through to get to your hardware. I don't really have to much of an opinion on windows 8 just yet but i do agree with you strein. I wouldn't be surprised if it turns out like vista.
windows 7 is solid imo

Pssss... windows 7 is based on vista :O

DUN DUN DUN!!!!!!

EDIT: Actually windows 7 is worlds closer to vista then vista is to xp.

Just goes to show how much the feel and ease of use can go for product.

EDIT: Rumour is they released windows 7 early as vista.... but it has been years since ive seen a vista topic, so I may be getting rusty.

1. I bet you that you can't tell the difference between i5 2nd gen and i7, but you will notice the hole in your wallet.
2. Windows 7 will never use more than 8g of Ram, anything after that is useless (for gaming)
3. Your HD is super slow, it's like driving a turbo car at 6 psi.

I upgraded my computer, still using Nvidia 470, upgraded i5 2600, new asus mobo, 8 gig ram. Ran perfectly fine at max res. Costed less than $400. I did research before I buy it and asked friends who are computer wiz and they sent me links for comparisons. I have the money to build a super computer, which I did with my old one with every top of the line. 4 years later, I couldn't even run BF3. Just my 02 cents.

But if you have money to spend, why not. I'd drive a 2012 skyline any day and not an Evo if i had the money. But money well spent? I think not.

These type of threads always turn into a pissing contest... Just human nature I guess...

I spent 1200 bucks building my PC a year ago (i use it for Music recording studio and Video editing as well)

I spent less then half that building my sons for gaming...

Both run TERA on highest settings flawlessly....
