If a very heavy muscular man and a skinny man are hanged, which one will die first?
I suspect that the heavy set man will die first, but it depends on the method of hanging such as the weight difference, the type of rope, and the height at which they dropped.
There have been scenarios where the hanged falls a great distance and the rope will completely decapitate the person, so it is necessarily to know the falling distance.
The rope can make a great deal of a difference. A thick and rough rope can cause itching and discomfort on the hanged persons. It can also slow down the rate of strangulation on the body. A thin rope as noted previously, can decapitate a person more easily than a thick rope. It is important to use a rope that does not break due to the weight of the condemned man nor the height of the fall. Rope used for nautical purposes is used very often, but so are belts and shoe laces, so it is really difficult to know what you are getting into unless the type rope is known. *Take note however that both categories, big and thin, have the ability to decapitate a human.
Next, is the weight difference:
Force = G * (m1.m2 / d^2)
G = constant
m1 = mass of earth
m2 = mass of object
d = distance between them
Force does not = acceleration (F = ma)
Heavy objects will have a force applied by grav proportional to their masses. So objects will fall towards the earth at the same speed.
However,
The earth will also be drawn to the objects in question with accel proportional to mass of object. So assuming you drop one after the other and have a very accurate timer to hand you will notice the heavier object fall faster if you reference the earth as a fixed point.
Lastly, I suppose you would have to take into consideration the health of the condemned person. A morbidly obese man who has difficulty breathing is very likely to die faster than a person who is in tip-top shape. The same goes for a sickly skinny man vs a person in tip-top shape.
So to answer your question a number of bits of information is needed to give an accurate answer as to which of the two types of people, Obesity vs Skinny, will die first when hanged. And actually, as I look closer it you said "very heavy muscular man", not obese. I'd like to think there isn't much of a different between the two, so my response is still on topic.
I hope this helps. Please don't kill anyone. ಠ_à²
You see I know a fellow who only does one kind of exercise, he does only one certain type of weight lift. he has a leg press machine, where you see the weight is above him where he is on this chair and with his legs he can pushes far beyond what himself is weight entirely... over 500 lbs
you know how those gymnast can stay upside down on their arms? is it possible that a person can do weight training with his neck and is able to support his own weight.

Am I understanding the inquiry correctly? Are you asking if someone can become "immune" to hanging to death by getting big giant neck muscles?
I have never heard of such a thing. I have always thought all humans are susceptible to strangulation. I would think that in some cases a hanging should work in a similar way to that of a tourniquet, to where it lessens the blood flow by closing jugular veins or spinal chord injury. I'd also like to note how Hanging from your neck is completely different than lifting from your neck.
I think your friend is telling you lies. Humans are not immune to death by hanging if they get big fat neck muscles. I do not wish to see him or you prove my theory wrong, however it does have me curious to how someone can be immune to a hanging. ಠ_ಠ. ...Maybe some sort of... padding or... waist apparatus attached to the rope...
No I don't think anyone can be immue to hanging, but can a man beat the rope? the common and standard device used for hanging..
Anyway if you are asking some crazy imaginary way that people can stop themselves from being hanged watch the first sherlock movie, the evil villiain made it look like he got hang by having the weight else where than his neck.
By the way the thing they used in sherlock movie is a Hanging harnesses which they uses in live theaters and drama stuff. But I'm talking about a common rope people used for hanging.

YES! I knew I had seen it somewhere once before! Sherlock Holmes! I think that is where my idea for a harness originated, but the light bulb didn't go off.
I think Wikipedia has a section on Hanging and it's medical effects on the body. It is going to be incredibly difficult to "beat the rope", no matter how limp or stiff or muscular your neck is. I can't imagine anyone surviving a legit hanging unless it is a poorly designed hanging.
*This Wikipedia might have some answers to questions I don't know how to answer involving the medical effects of hangings. It is actually an interesting read. ---> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hanging#Medical_effects
Mmmm... Looks like he survived the hanging, but still died in the end. I wonder if he had not died, would Kuwait have attempted execution on him a second time.
He could have been a zombie. It's better to not take chances. That is how outbreaks happen.
