Anyone getting it? Anyone hating on it? PS VITA > 3DS?, 3DS > PS VITA?

Anything related to that comes in here.

I can say that I've pre-ordered and amazon gave me a 8 gb card for free plus the pre-order box plus 15 € discount on one game that I ordered with it.

I'm actually pretty excited for it haha.

To be honest, the sole reason I pre-ordered the PS Vita was because of Persona 4: The Golden.

I'd buy a Vita, if they get around to making an installment of Monster Hunter for it.

Turns out the 3DS is goin to be holding on to that franchise for awhile though.

Yeh I loved the monster hunter game for the PSP. Such a shame...

I am getting Playstation Vita 3G. Mainly because of the promo Amazon is doing with free 8GB memory stick, free month of 3G, and free PSN game.

I think that the idea of the dedicated handheld gaming device is a dying one... With what our smatphones can do these days, and the developers/publishers creating more and more games for them (some are actually decent! lol) I don't think you'll see them after these iterations.

To be honest, my greatest fear is that smartphones kill off handheld gaming devices, and with it some of the greatest portable iterations of some of our favorite game series - and then we're left with crappy games from Zynga... A unimaginative, cash-grubbing, sow of a developer. If you can even call it that... "Let's reskin a sh*t 'game', call it (insertwordhere)ville, and make another 100 million!!!!"

Zygna will ruin portable gaming as we know it.

nah I don't think that smartphones will take over the portable gaming scene/market. I have one myself and yeah it's fun to play some world of goo once in a while but they can't keep up with games like uncharted golden abyss (just as an example) and they maybe never will or at least not in the near future haha

but otherwise I agree with you, zynga is horrible!

Well smartphones already killing this market and will continue to do so in the feature. There are very decent games on both Android and iOS todays smartphone has nothing to do with phone, it hand held computer with integrated phone.

yeh I have an android phone and as a non-casual gamer it just has too few really good games to offer to keep me satisfied with just the smartphone. Same with the iOS btw I don't have an iOS phone (since that would be horrible) but I have an old iPod Touch and the games on the apple market aren't any better!

So I guess casual gamers might be satisfied with what both markets have to offer but all the other gamers will want something better, something more appealing to them.

Don't get me wrong I hope you're right - I just don't want to see reputable developers seeing the trend and following the money trail, leaving venerable devices in the back closet. As it sits, there are maybe 2 or 3 handheld device quality games on smartphones, and they're remakes of ols PS or SNES games. So the potential for a good game is there... I just don't want the trend to shift too severely.
