Myxx that's some awesome stuff. I've hardly an idea what those numbers mean but from the amount of time you've spent playing it its incredible I'm sure. :3 Friends made all the difference and htoe clan battles sound awsome. I hope something of similar nature and appropriate scale as to not feel vulnerable to instant death happens with Tera. D:
I remember starting out as a thief, and being so angry I couldn't find my way anywhere else without dying. I eventually said lame sauce and re-rolled to a Acolyte. I didn't know how to build my stats or skills, so I got a little bit of everything. I could carry so many pots in WoE thanks to my 11 strength. =p
I remember one Christmas we were doing gift exchanges in my guild, and since I collected headgears, I decided to get everyone a birthday cake hat. It took me all of December to get like 200 pieces of cake, and 400 cookies. I was able to get a hat for everyone but myself. xD
I guess I really liked iRO because, it was my first MMO so it was new and exciting, it had a nice community when I started (sort of degraded after 4 years), there was so much to do, healing/supporting was fun, WoE, and leveling took a long time. When I finally got 99 on my High Priestess I had a huge sense of accomplishment. :D
Before they killed the game with a cash shop, people could work really hard and become quite accomplished. IKEA was who you bought your weapons from (When you didn't need to enchant them). You know who took the time to get to max level from bubbles. You know who has the GR and GTB. What alliances guilds were in, and where their guild spots were.
And headgears! So many! I remember leveling in Niff to get black cat dolls so I could get my drooping kitty. Now you can buy them. :(
I've never gotten that feeling in any other MMO I've played. Anything that allows your character to be customized you usually have to pay for now. Leveling is also way to easy, there is no sense of accomplishment when leveling anymore. :(
It's been a while so if I remembered something incorrectly, please forgive me. =p
Sounds awesome! I feel like I missed out on a lot of cool stuff now. So many people have mentioned that game but I never knew much about it until your post. Thank you! Nothing quite compares to the first mmo with the community and all. Its a pity that it always seems to change. :(
I started out in WoW and when I first walked into the undercity i was all like waaaaaaaa what the he11 is this??!?!?! Now i'm more like lol, I can't even play that game anymore.
Than I went to Rift and enjoyed it for a solid 8months, went back to WoW and realized why I hated that game soooo freaking much, so now i'm here.
Oh and I've played ToR on a trial version, and just felt for a game that was released in the end of 2012 it felt more like a mmo that was released in 2005/2006.
Been playing Vindictus... and i can honestly say, i wasn't impressed. Way to many bots, and way to overly instanced and the gameplay feels awkward.
My first MMO was Also Ragnarok online back in 2004 when it had an oceanic server.
I played Ragnarok Online since 2004 and i still play it occasionally.
I can never truly quit RO because i love it so much. I have made many amazing friends in that game and the community is the best I have ever seen.
If TERA takes 1 idea from Raganrok Online, Please be WOE (War of Emperium) That was the most fun you can have in an MMO. If TERA were to adopt that style of Guild VS Guild., It would be the greatest thing to ever exist.

Ah, iRO, my very first MMORPG back in 2003... The game that ruined me forever. I wouldn't be playing MMOs in general if it weren't for that game. Started off as a Knight, but totally ruined the build cause I had no idea what I was doing stat wise... Then did some research and restarted and made a hybrid two-handed sword knight, which was my main until they came out with crusader and went with that and main'd a hybrid shield sader, which totally rocked.
I wish MMOs did the level of class and stat customization that RO did, it really made the character felt like "yours".
I think my first one was Ragnarok Online, but I was never really into it. The first MMO I really enjoyed (but never really got past level 20 or so) was City of Heroes.

Man, that's some nostalgia. RO was also my first MMO, but I didn't start playing until 2005 I think. I was also a Knight. I remember doing a ton of research due to some friendly advice from the guy who got me into it, who was my best friend IRL, playing an Assassin. That guy was always ahead of me.
I never did anything spectacular in that game. I loved going to War of Emperium even though I was only a level 87 Knight. I had a Muramasa and remade my whole character to try out the AGI/LUK build for it. I was squishy as hell, but was still appreciated for my contributions to the guild's causes.
Now that I look back at it, I feel kind of bad that I never got to transcend to a Lord Knight, I loved that class sprite so much. I think all the friends I made and the laughs we shared was well worth not being out leveling all the time. I spent most of my time hanging out with my guild and our allied guild in Payon.
We also took the time to travel to Lutie as a group on Christmas day to exchange gifts. I had asked a close friend of mine to marry me in-game. She turned me down, but that actually made us closer than ever. Her best friend ended up telling me it was like we were married anyway.
I wasn't a huge fan of grinding back then, but I did find it fun when we kind of made our own quests. I remember my guild leader would send me off to gather a number of items from the monsters far away from our little town, and he'd pay me more money than I'd ever had for my efforts.
I remember a year later, a small group of friends and I ended up running off to a private server. After some time, I gained a whole bunch of new friends, and with all of them, I ended up being the leader of the number one PvP guild on the server after overtaking 7 other "major" guilds in the process, and that was an experience I could never forget.
I still talk to a lot of those people, they even still call me by my character name sometimes. "Prince" was the common one, others called me "Maru." I miss the respect and power I had as a leader, and more importantly, I miss my soldiers. They were like family to me. I somehow became popular enough to be voted as a GM for the server, and a ton of people loved me. The head GM there ended up playing a prank on me while I was offline and switched my main account (the non-GM account) from male to female. I guess that's what made me start to play female characters, LOL
I haven't been able to find a community that was so friendly since playing Ragnarok Online. I never had a single enemy on the official servers. I had very few on the private server, but only because they were leaders of opposing guilds.
My first MMO was Scions of Fate back in '06? '07?. Yep, feel free to laugh. I liked the simple little anime style graphics though, they were so cute to me at the time! Before that, I'd always played single-player games. Console games, Diablo I/II, the Neverwinter Nights and Icewind Dale games. Playing an MMO was a nice change of pace; I loved meeting new people and having a chance to play the game with others whether it be in PvE or PvP. Greatly looking forward to playing Tera with all of you!
Dark Age of Camelot was my FIRST MMO ever. I really liked the RvR and open world PvP fights and MOST of all the player housing area. Didnt have a CLUE wtf i was doing at the time but i had alot of help from some random person and their guild <shadows>.
