I think they need to turn on PvP on PvP servers. This game has been out for a week now and they still have not turned PvP on. You cant gank anyone or fight anyone unless they have a red name. It is like a WoW PvE server, you have to flag yourself for PvP and when you do a few PvE'er run by you and kill you. I hope they understand that anyone that does not like PvP can go to a PvE server that is why they have PvP and PvE servers to start with... I hope they fix this issue fast because a broken game will not last...
Really? Are you too much of a [filtered] to perma-red? You want that element of surprise in a pvp server, of always looking over your back, of not being sure whether to trust the other guy killing mobs or not? Just perma-red... Or you want the option of ganking anytime - again, just perma-red. (and if anyone wonders, yes, I am permanently outlaw, and intend to stay that way).
Ok, you still will have safe zones, but if they're an issue, don't try jumping people within sneezing distance of the border.
If they removed safe zones, you would just complain that I went by and aoe'd down. Everyone standing near the vendors. Or camped a rooftop within shot of the stamina restore guy and insta killed anyone that just fessed. Safe zones, while not ideal, are somehow needed to a certain extent. Take me out, and I will guarantee intense camping. Which is fun, as the camper, but so many more of you will come here crying.
Perma red b*tches.
Scrub kids all day long.
I think they should set safe-zones up the way they were in Ultima Online. The safe zone was simply the city limits where guards could be summoned against criminals/monsters. In this system Guild vs Guild could take place anywhere because you weren't going criminal/outlaw to attack someone. If you wanted to go outlaw you could still attack people over the line if you were quick enough to do it and get back out before someone called guards on you. Guards could be set to insta kill, high damage, low damage, or even made killable by the Vanarch.
An interesting thing happen when you had a very long battle with someone. The person who went criminal to attack you would eventually return to normal/blue status to everyone else yet still be criminal to you. This allowed the fights to happen inside a town without guards being able to be called on you. The way this was done was if you attack someone and go outlaw, someone else could attack you and refresh your outlaw status to them even though your global outlaw status is still ticking down. So as long as the battle is happening between the two of you, you remain enemies to each other but not to everyone else. This also prevents players from jumping in in the middle of a fight that is heated just because you are red. The reason this could make sense is if you attack someone and they attack back but give up in the middle of the fight and run to the safe zone you may still be able to follow them in and finish them off.
So not only could this be a way to fix safe zones, it could add to the political system (through Vanarch settings) and could eliminate situations where PvPers believe they are being jumped only because they are red, even in a fight where their opponent wants to fight them.
