It is a problem for people who just want to fight and the only people around them are 5 levels higher. Then they dont get to play the game how they want, and consider the game as a whole in a bad light.
The game ought to know the diffference between players and mobs, so should be possible to tone down this multiplier affect between players.

Okay this seriously needs to stop, don't complain without actually understanding the damage formula. There is no such thing artificial level scaling, it is just the way that damage is calculated.
You can crit a naked lvl 60 for the same hundreds of thousands of damage as you do a lvl one, in fact some battlegrounds utilizes this along with damage reflect to bait players into one shoting themselves.
What matters is hard numbers of defense and attack, not level.
Why did I crit a 35 50% of the time and he never crit me once despite same stats?
Theres something there other than gear, but gear + scaling makes the huge difference people (me included) have originally complained about.
