Barely a month after release, pvp is already one-sided.

(wont go into the class imbalances, amirite TotallyNotBroc?). Nexus gear seems to have a noticeable difference on the field.

Broc would reply but he's currently banned from the forums because apparently telling someone its hard to see something with their head buried in the sand is a serious personal attack worthy of moderation lol.

But anyways, I'm in his guild and the entire vent complains about the game's pvp mechanics and gear > skill system on a nightly basis. Nexus gear most definitely has a noticeable difference. Hope you had fun grinding all that t12 gear up.. cuz you're going to have to do it again and again if you want to be competitive in this game. Have fun with that.

Would love a sandbox area with objectives to take and hold to gain a certain currency/point system to cash in for rewards and gain ranks. I liked the DAoC realm rank system. Took a while to do and the bonuses you got were not over the top powerful but helpful. Give us the Frontiers for Tera.Thank you.

Funny you should mention this as our vent is always talking about ways they could easily improve the game and this one was last nights suggestion one of the guys made. Make that unused area on the map in the north a complete FFA zone where everyone is red at all times with objectives of value laid out across the area that could be fought over and controlled because they gave some sort of marginal benefit that people would actually want but not be stupid OP. I thought it was a cool idea anyways. Doubt they'd ever do something like that tho.

We also routinely discuss how much better the game would be if they simply allowed us to loot people bodies after we killed them like back in Asheron's Call. I totally wouldn't mind the RNG hell if I could avoid it by simply being a good PvPer with my crew and was able to loot the gear I needed off the dead bodies of people we've killed instead of farming boring PvE content until my eyes bleed and I fall asleep at my keyboard from boredom..

But of course that type of thing will NEVER happen in any MMO ever again since WoW ruined it for everyone with their carebearification of the genre.

This was one of the factors that drove me away from other PvP games. A fresh 60 comes across someone in full +8 or so Nexus gear. Outcome is pretty much pre-determined.

However, I have never experienced this type of pvp gear disparity so quickly in an MMO. Due to the mechanics of the Nexus, it will be another 2 months (with my schedule) before I can get access to the same pvp gear.

Not sure if I'll make it through that... Anyone else feel the same?

Dont be mad at the players that have no life and can play more then you not there fult you cant play more quit your job or drop out of school if u want to get better gear games should not have to change to your schedule so u can be on par bro suck it up and drive on !

Fail logic fails.

Any PvP where time to play determines the outcome fails, simple as that. Doesn't matter if we're talking about an MMO or a FPS or whatever.

You don't need to invest years of gametime to be able to hop on a Counterstrike server and be competitive. You don't need to grind the game for months playing with only pistols before you get access to the AWP or AK provide you're able to win an RNG roll. A person who's never played the game before can hop on and instantly be competitive if they're a good gamer and familiar with the person shooters genre. Gee wonder why it's one of the most successful online games and mod success stories of all time with people who still play 1.6 religiously.

Good MMO's reduce the time sink necessary to be competitive in their pvp. Usually you put the work in to level your guy to cap and it's a relatively even playing field once there.

But unfortunately ever since WoW ruined the industry endgame morphed from being pvp-oriented to being gear grind oriented. And so now gear > skill and the time you have to spend grinding out that gear treadmill directly determines your character progression and competitiveness. Not how good you are at playing the game.

The best Tera player ever who has a 9-5 job and goes out on the weekends is doomed to fail before the fight even starts against some unemployed no lifer who grinds Tera 24/7 and AFK's every nexus event and is rocking +12 nexus gear before you've gotten one t12 drop from Fane. He could be the worst player ever at actually playing his character and it wouldn't matter.

That's why Tera is a complete fail for people interested in legit PvP.

Tell Broc that he should look into GW2 for Sandbox. I've been reading about their World VS World and it's basically everything I am looking for and I wish Tera would have done this instead of focusing on their end game content or lack there of.

I agree with putting time into a game also. I just hate grinding gear to be effective in pvp. Skill and team coordination should govern victories. Not whoever has invested the most time into getting the best gear. If you replace time with skill then that is what separates you from the rest.

The player not the gear. And to answer your question, Gotti, I am going to try GW2. Queens of Argon 2 is a make or break for me. As much as I do not want to go back to tab targeting I would if the content is fun. I'm glad you don't cry on the forums. Neither do I. ;)
