How PvP system "should" work. imo

I have played many many many mmos and by now I can safely say the most fun I have EVER had in PvP was a very old game that Im sure most of you have never played.

It was Lineage 1.

The PvP style was the best.
Basically there is a karma system.
The Karma goes from -32767 to +32767.

Everyone starts out a 0 Karma.

Lawful - The +32767 would mean you are "Lawful". If you were "Lawful" you would have a Blue name along with some benefits when you are purchasing items from general good merchants. Things would be discounted, your Luck of item drops would increase and well your name would be dark Blue. The way you would get to the Lawful state is by killing Mobs. Each Mob would give you about 4 to 15 karma points in the + range.
As you progress into the + Lawful state your name would go from White to Dark blue, In different ranges of color of the blue.

Chaotic - Now the opposite spectrum would be -32767, This would mean you are "Chaotic".
Chaotic Players are usually the "PKers", or they would use certain spells, that if your in the "Chaotic" Spectrum, It would do more damage to Mobs or players.

The Debuffs: Every time a player would PK Another player they would get a certain -Karma value. The more people they killed the deeper chaotic they would go. Or the deeper Karmatic value they would accumulate.
If you were "Chaotic" You have the probability of dropping equipped, and non equipped items in your inventory. Many chaotic players would often carry alot of candles or items of no value to lower their chances of not dropped any equipped items.

Once you have killed 1 Person if you are Full Lawful, you would immediately go to Chaotic of about -6,000 Karma. Your name would become red, and any player can come after you for your loot, or you can take them on and defend your self and go into further Chaotic.
Most people who have become chaotic would stay with their guild, or a secluded area to work off their karmatic value back to 0.

Another debuff of being Chaotic is that guards would try to kill you on site within a few hours of your PK.

This was the best PvP mechanic system I have ever had the privilege to play and it would be amazing if Tera had something similar to this.

Your thoughts?

I understanding what you are saying but this is TERA not lineage.
Im sure this product is design by many many many staff members through research and ideas. Not just an over night thing.
I loved how AION pvp system was but I wouldnt want it in TERA. That would be playing the same game with diff. skin and UI.

It's not bad the PvP idea that they implemented in Tera, but it's few pvp imo.. they should add something to have more pvp, siege to something or fort conquer/defense, or some crap like that, the arenas and duels are not enough D: !

WTB World PVP! xD

I know some people liked it, but I would hate to have equipped items dropped if I was killed. Regardless of how much I love pvp, dropping gear and stuff I've earned or worked on would suck.

Now I think the outlaw system will be fine. There is no need to karma and stuff, if you want to kill, declare yourself as an outlaw. Now you can kill or be killed all day. There is plenty of pvp stuff to do in Tera and I love it.

How is declaring yourself an "outlaw" on a PvP server ok? You rolled on a PvP server for a reason and the idea of then declaring PvP just doesn't fit. Also, you agree with the negative impacts of being an outlaw? I don't see how it is remotely fair for a player who is good at killing other people to be hindered by negative movement speed, attack power reduced. These just discourages people from wanting to PVP. (which is not what should happen).

To the OP: I understand your idea but could you answer a few questions for me so I can fully respond why I don't think that system is good. Do lawful people have the same chance of dropping items as Chaotic people? What happens to the Lawful people if they die to a Chaotic person?

Hi Shelkelp,

Sure. I can answer the,.

The way lawful would work is that if your at Max lawful you have no chance of dropping anything on death.
However [filtered] you progress to lawful you do have a chance, and each mob you kill lowers it even further.

If a lawful person dies to a chaotic person, the chaotic person would gain more -karma points. The lawful person nothing would happen to them.

As an added benefit being full lawful could have the option of not allowing you to lose any exp %.

I wish they would make a hard core server like this. It would be amazing.

we dont need karma because this isnt a pve and pvp server, its going to be just a pvp server, rendering karma useless.
