What's wrong with having an engaging world? If you want just straight up face beating PvP with no sense of a living, breathing world, go play Street Fighter or something. They have online capabilities now..
Heaven forbid we get absorbed into the world we're investing our time in..

Knock yourself out, chickie!
Just stop trying to impose your lame RP crap on me. ;)

Are you ashamed about playing an RPG? It's ok. No one's judging you for playing a fuzzy, bouncing Popori. I bet Sr.Snugglebottom has a great backstory to him. Wanna share and compare bios?
I will say one thing. For everyone out there who want no consequence PvP and just want to go out and kill people or be killed. I will say this..TERA is not for you...or shouldn't be that is.
Lets take a quick look at part of the MMO-FO Manifesto, straight from their FACEBOOK page and probably on their site to.
We are MMO-FOs. We are not weaklings. We don't want your easy-mode, casual-friendly, everyone-gets-to-win endgames. You can call it a hundred-point achievement and give us welfare purples , but we know a participation ribbon when we see it.
I just want you to realize...no consequence PvP...is an everyone get to win system and is casual friendly mode. Why PvP if their is no reward or risk. It becomes nothing more than a grind...just people instead of mobs.

Creepy much?
I'm not the least bit ashamed of playing this game because the PvP, so far, is good. In fact, I've been recruiting a wide variety of friends, some of which have never even played an MMO of any kind. Guys from Counterstrike, Socom, Modern Warfare etc. I'd really like to see this game's PvP not get ruined by a bunch of RP Carebear crap.
I play the game for competitive PvP. Not the "bios" of my character. I would think that me choosing the goofiest looking race in the game and then naming it "Stabbie" might have been someone's first clue that I don't take that stuff too seriously... But I understand you're not the sharpest tool in the shed.

Once again, sarcasm is lost on you.
I'm gonna keep this simple, m'kay?

TERA IS NOT AN FPS
You want competative PvP without "a bunch of RP carebear crap" play tribes. Wait for Planet Side2. Hell, play APB, as broken as that is. At least there's a ranking system in that for you to pleasure yourself to. Tera is a world, not an arena, and I'd really like to see this game's world not be watered down by your over-competitive epeen crap.
I haven't read through all the pages but I can already tell this Stabbie guy is in a world of his own lol (honestly if you appreciate instanced PvP more then its there, no one's forcing anyone else to go into the world).
Back on topic though (somewhat), I'd love to see more dynamic and engaging OWPvP system. I'd like to point out that I'm against anything created by the game that would inhibit how a player actually spends their time in-game (i.e. some jailing instance for killing to many people). However, there are opportunities for OWPvP to have more meaning to it than just killing people.
I liked the idea of creating some sort of region or server-wide event based on if you kill a certain number of people or "murdered" a certain number of lowbies. This could possibly be merged with a bounty system or the political system. There are a lot of opportunities here to make OWPvP more engaging and have more meaning especially since the "western" version is relatively young.
Once again, sarcasm is lost on you.

Tera has both RP & PvE servers for people like you.
I'd really like to see this game's PvP not be watered down by your carebear crap. (See what I did there?)
In Conclusion:
You're bad. Stop trying to make the rest of us pay the price for that.
I'd like to point out that I'm against anything created by the game that would inhibit how a player actually spends their time in-game (i.e. some jailing instance for killing to many people).
This is exactly the core of what I've been saying all along.
These RP Carebears keep diverting the conversation with red herring arguments. If you read back, you'll see that you and I are in agreement.

Except stabbie...all your arguments end with.
You're bad.
Sorry buddy, but you are simply going to have to learn that not every gamer in the world wants what you want. Your idea is not the only thing. I fail to comprehend how a mechanic that could increase the variety of the game can so hinder your experience.
I for one believe plain open world PvP hinders the experience. It limits it to a basic function of uselessness. What would be wrong with a system designed to allow a unique twist on PvP.
The jail system is not focused around the actual time being spent in jail. A true well created jail system would be designed around some core concepts:
-How you get wanted
-How you are arrested/captured
-How you get transported to jail
-What you can do while in jail (Corrupt players protecting the jail smuggling weapons in anyone?)
-How you can be broken out of jail
-How this leads to more PvP encounters with fun and different outcomes, where simple killing is not the sole purpose
No one here is telling you that they want a jail system where they send the player killers to so they are not bothered by them. What people want is to be hunted or to do the hunting. To plan a jail break, to essentially provide a new layer of challenge to the game.
I would almost view it in a similar fashion to "Prison Dodge ball".
In prison dodge ball as a kid, there were ways to escape jail, take people out from behind, and break your team out of jail. It was fun as it was dodge ball with more mechanics. There was more strategy and it was not simply throw the ball and hit or miss the person. Much more thrilling as you had to watch your front and back side etc.
