News Flash!
Tera has both RP & PvE servers for people like you.
I'd really like to see this game's PvP not be watered down by your carebear crap. (See what I did there?)
In Conclusion:
You're bad. Stop trying to make the rest of us pay the price for that.
They do have an RP server. Too bad it's PvE. And if it was PvP, it would be without an amazing, and engaging dynamic system.
Implementing a dynamic PvP even does not water down PvP, but it brings it more color. I was hoping that PvP content would, you know, move forward with newer games. What you are suggesting is the PvP equivalent of a PvEer [filtered]ing about quests, dungeons, and nexuses. I came into Tera in faith that it was not another WoW clone. In regards to PvE it stands pretty strong with the action combat, BAMs, engaging boss fights, and nexus systems. But with PvP it's only defining feature is the combat, and if I wanted just action combat PvP I would play a game with much tighter combat than this, like a fighting game or a shooter. Right now Tera is just WoW PvP + action combat, which is neat, but old, tired, and dated.
As for the "You're bad" comment, I said it before and I said it again. I proposed the idea of a jail system IN HOPES that it will be used AGAINST me. Vanarchs, do your worst.
And I'm quoting this for awesome:

Except stabbie...all your arguments end with.
You're bad.
Sorry buddy, but you are simply going to have to learn that not every gamer in the world wants what you want. Your idea is not the only thing. I fail to comprehend how a mechanic that could increase the variety of the game can so hinder your experience.
I for one believe plain open world PvP hinders the experience. It limits it to a basic function of uselessness. What would be wrong with a system designed to allow a unique twist on PvP.
The jail system is not focused around the actual time being spent in jail. A true well created jail system would be designed around some core concepts:
-How you get wanted
-How you are arrested/captured
-How you get transported to jail
-What you can do while in jail (Corrupt players protecting the jail smuggling weapons in anyone?)
-How you can be broken out of jail
-How this leads to more PvP encounters with fun and different outcomes, where simple killing is not the sole purpose
No one here is telling you that they want a jail system where they send the player killers to so they are not bothered by them. What people want is to be hunted or to do the hunting. To plan a jail break, to essentially provide a new layer of challenge to the game.
I would almost view it in a similar fashion to "Prison Dodge ball".
In prison dodge ball as a kid, there were ways to escape jail, take people out from behind, and break your team out of jail. It was fun as it was dodge ball with more mechanics. There was more strategy and it was not simply throw the ball and hit or miss the person. Much more thrilling as you had to watch your front and back side etc.
I dont even know what to say to you anymore Stabbie. The amount of !@#$ that your spewing is seriously making my brain hurt for you. I don't even know how someone can be so stupid.
You want no consequence PVP. We get it move away from Tera and into another game, because Tera is NOT for you. Its not. This game has been marketed from the start as hardcore game. There entire MMO-FO campaign is about that.
Your calling people for the jailing system carebears...yet we want consequential PvP. You want to PvP with no consequences... who is the carebear... you. Off that specific definition... you would be the carebear.
I dont want to put other people in jail. I want other people to have the ability to put ME in jail. There is no meaning in the PvP right now. Yes its fun and I will do it just for that fact. But when someone gets tired of my Killing Spree they have no viable way to stop me. Sure.. they can kill me.. guess what. I visit the Stamina Restorer and I am right back out there killing that same person again. There is no way to actually put a stop to my ganking. A jail system gives that player the ability to stop me from ganking consistently.

Oh no!! They can't do that!! That would be stopping you from getting what you want, and that's a no-no! Never mind that you're repeatedly killing a lower level, stopping them from doing what they want to do...

I suggest you go back and read some of my earlier posts before the retards started making this about everything BUT the core issue.
Which is:
You're not going to control my game time by throwing me in jail for PvPing on a PvP server. Period.
It's counter-productive to World PvP, no matter how many colorful analogies you want to make.
The majority of the posters in this thread agree. It's a bad idea that's trying to be pushed through by RP enthusiasts and carebears.
The biggest problem is you do not see the whole picture. In your mind you hear jail system and you imagine being imprisoned in the game and losing a lot of your game time doing nothing as your character sits there.
What people are wanting is a system that does the opposite. We want a system that entices PvP by adding in features that people avoid jail, break people out of jail, smuggle weapons into jail.
Hell, Roda even added the idea in a blog post she did a year ago, abut Gladiator Type matches taking place for those in jail. In my opinion this sounds awesome. People could watch and bet and win or lose your jail time drops, and money from it goes to the city of the vanarchs champion.
No one wants a basic throw in jail system. Otherwise they would simply ask for an account lock-out feature for people who PvP "too much". It is about so much more, but you are refusing to look at it as anything else.
Your only thought is one one thing that everyone agrees would be flawed and then you go and shot to anyone who disagrees with you that they are a stupid Role player or a care bear. When ironically, people will at some point turn that on you and call you the care bear for wanting no consequences and wanting the game to be extremely "simplified".
A jail system gives that player the ability to stop me from ganking consistently.
I quoted the only relevant thing you said.
Thank you for proving my point.
Anything that gives another player the power to interrupt me PvPing on a PvP server, is a bad idea.
I'm struggling to find small enough words for you to understand and I find I'm repeating myself.
YOU are the one that wants to jail the big, mean gankers for actually PvPing on a PvP server. Not me. That doesn't make you hardcore. That makes you a carebear. You need to come terms with it.
There are a million other things you could do to add "consequences" to PvP. Controlling a player's time by jailing them, should not be one of them.

Reading comprehension once again is not your friend. The whole point of that post is, I want to allow players the ability to jail MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
I think thats enough emphasis on the keyword brought up by everyone so far in this thread. Everyone arguing for a Jailing System knows that this system will directly effect THEMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
Because WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE ARE the gankers.
More emphasis encase reading comprehension becomes a problem again.
You are the one that wants to gank with no real risk factor. Not me. I want to gank with risks. So in those terms you sir, are the carebear.

Here let me help you find the REAL relevancy in his post:

Also, which would you rather?
To stop OWPvPing because it's a mindless grind of mashing your face against random players in hopes of one of them having a guild to come and mash their faces against you?
or
To initiate a crazy bout of zone-wide PvP man-hunt action because you made a name for yourself?

What makes you think that I can't "initiate a crazy bout of zone-wide PvP man-hunt action" without a jail system?
That was nearly an everyday occurrence for me in other games I've played. If you hadn't noticed, I'm pretty good at getting carebears riled up. ;)
I can guarantee you that shortly after I'm finished leveling, whatever server I'm on, whatever zone I'm in, there will be PvP action there.

No jails necessary.
They catch and kill you. Then what? You visit the stamina restorer pop a few bandages and go right back out. There was no risk for you being killed or hunted by that group. You don't really care if your caught, because you will be back out killing again within the next 30 seconds to a minute.
Now with the jail system in place. Your going to be on your toes because you know there is risk there. Its not just gonna be a 30 second time out for HP recovery. No its you being transported to the city and jailed for a certain amount of time, or you breaking out which is going to be a bit as well.
Meanwhile that zone you were in ganking has downtime and a sense of victory over the big mean gankers.
