its PVP no matter how you look at it and its a duel like the name implies... *sighs* I hate these "OMG ITS PVE" arguments that is just as stupid as the reverse "OMG ITS PVP"
as for the later comments if you read up on some of the comments it may be called jailing but there has been talk of a breakout you can do meaning you can do something to get yourself out.
What is sad is to many people come in here and hear the word "Jail" and take no time to read any little thing. They start huffing and puffing like they know what they are talking about and trying to defend themselves without ever reading the opponents arguments.
I will put it in obvious words for all the newcomers and past people who have never bothered to read...
WE DO NOT WANT A JAIL SYSTEM THAT KEEPS YOU FROM PLAYING THE GAME.
We want to provide a system that is fun for all sides. Most of you have never played a game with an actual jail system, and to be honest, for the most part you have no room to talk if you have never done so or you have never taken the time to theory craft. Most of you are out here throwing around BS responses without thinking and identifying the truth.
The jail system can work...if people would stop moaning about it and stop a moment to work out the flaws of it, instead you just whine and complain.
Also...if it only goes on a RP-PvP Hardcore server or whatever, I am fine with that. Give a rule set for those who want an unique experience. The rest of the crowd can go play their casual generic open world PvP that has failed in almost every other game that has the exact system that exists now....
Jail is just another ridiculous punishment dreamed up by true carebears. Just another anti-PvP feature, another penalty discouraging combat in the open world.

Just proved my point. You are spewing stuff and then throwing insults of carebear and anti-PvP. No one ever said the PvP truly ends with the jail system..instead it adds in a whole new levels of thrill to the PvP.
Chases....jail breaks....smuggling weapons in jail...we talked about gladiator fights...with betting.
Yet all you all choose to see is the word "jail". You sir are discouraging open world PvP by asking for it to stay exactly the same as any other games open world PvP. If I am not mistaken, all these games with open world PvP with a generic system with no feeling to it...like the current one...it just dies out.
You to, will get bored of it. You all act like you will forever love it, but you will tire of the system quickly. Everyone will. They will lose interest, feel there is no purpose, and walk away.
Why do most PvPers looking for an Open World system become MMORPG wanderers? The reason is simple. Every game that has provided it never provided enough of it with a good system. The only few that have tried are for some reason the same threads you all jump into and whine about regarding items dropping etc.
You just go into any thread that opposes generic open world PvP...then you all complain...and then you leave a month or two later saying it got boring.
WE ARE TRYING TO PREVENT THE BOREDOM FACTOR. The jail system would not be boring...read something a bit more.
Disagree on a topic we are not even discussing. The problem is the disagreeing is on the "idea" that the jail system means you sit there for a few hours or something.
Here is just a taste of an enjoyable jail system. Obviously from a different game, but they had a jail system. Guarding it an everything was all player done and had a way to hack in to the system.
This is just one example, and while not important it was really fun. You have to remember that people were not imprisoned for everything. It is not like we are saying "You killed that person...go to jail now..."
I tried to find a video where someone corrupt had brought in weapons to inside of the prison and sold them to prisoners and exited allowing them to cause chaos in the prison as they killed people left and right.
Did I mention this game had a system that if you ran out of money to purchase clones...or forgot to purchase clones and ran out of your stock...your character disappeared...of course it was a without levels game. Heavily faction advancement based.
