Let grievers grief, but give me a reason to kill them

I've camped people many levels lower than me in many games before just to be a pain to them, but it takes the rush away knowing the absolute worst that can happen to me is I end up dying and have to run back to my corpse. I was also frequently on the receiving side of this griefing, sometimes to the point where the game itself was no fun.

In the EU beta, 1 level 22 lancer was camping the quest area for the mount quest. After killing me and a few other people 2-3 times each, he moved on (luckily), but it was extremely frustrating. The worst part wasn't dying, it was the fact that I had a 5-7 minute run back to there only to be killed again and have no escape at all. WHAT A FUN GAME RIGHT?! :-p

I don't want to see a level range that you can openly attack, and I don't want to see open pvp go away. What I do what to see though is if someone is going to repeatedly kill me and prevent me from doing a quest, that I can have my buddies come kill him and make him lose something significant. I know this isn't lineage, but they have a perfect way to deal with it: Dropping items/gold. This is perfect. Heck, even if you leave out the dropping of items and make the person not able to use merchants or have city guards attack them until they do the painstakingly long duty of clearing their reputation again (via grinding).

Ok, this is where all you fan-boys of WoW and your open ganking and griefing kick in because this will ruin all your skill-less "fun" of grieving people.

How does "not needing incentive to kill people" and being "fanboys of WoW" have any connection?

You sound like someone who thinks he should be on a pvp server, but actually shouldn't be.

Oh I'd love to be able to kill someone for being a D-Bag, but I'd also like to be able to play the game and know if someone is going to go out of the way to make experience hell, they'll also have a price to pay for it. Sure that means that I"d have to deal with the penalty, but if I have reason enough to kill someone, then I'm fine dealing with those penalties.

Are you actually going to come up with an argument or just tell me I don't know what I'm talking about and shouldn't be on a PVP server?

The latter, not everything deserves an argument. Your point definently does not.

See this is you:
I hate getting world pvp'd
I want there to be less world pvp

Seems like someone like that should go on the pve server.
But no, pve servers are for noob carebears right? You are hardcore.

You're right, I hate getting world pvp'd knowing there's absolutely no penalty for that person who has cleared all the content, it's not a raid night, so they're just out grieving people. Cause that's fun, right?

You'd be screaming left and right if I were the one max level geared out camping you hour after hour not letting you finish what you're trying to accomplish, particularly if you know I pay absolutely no (or relatively low) penalty.

Oh wait, no you'll tell me that doesn't bother you, because you're "hardcore" :-p

except you can hide in instances, ask anyone else for help, or just man up and go somewhere else. there is more than one zone

It wouldn't bother me, because I have friends. It's a good concept, and if you're on a pvp server without them, you shouldn't complain when you get ganked to tears.

From the sounds of it, you like pvp servers because you can kill people when you feel like it, but dislike them because others kill you when they feel like it.

You sound like someone who can be reasoned with in an intelligent conversation.

Isn't there a level restriction placed on PvP? :S Or can a bunch of level 50s camp lower level areas?

Because that's hardly pvp x_x They don't actually have a chance.

So it was frustrating to you while you were camping someone else that there would be no penalty but having to run back, but when Tera implements almost that exact system, your frustration makes you want to bring more pain down on that person.

No offense, but it honestly sounds like you just shouldn't be on a PvP server. With your system, while you are dying repeatedly, you are continually losing something significant. Do you think griefers are going to be running around with all of their gold and useful items in their inventory? You'd probably get a few gold and some useless vendor trash, tops. Would that make you feel better?

It wouldn't.

Nothing is stopping you from calling on friends for aid, whether it's distraction or killing. Finish the quest, move on.

You cannot base design decisions on spikes in emotion. Otherwise, your game will suffer from wild swings that appease no one in the end.

@Anthrax yes there's more than one zone, but what if they're camping the mount quest giver so you can't get your mount (or a similar important quest location)?

@Valkyrie continue putting words in my mouth that weren't there and try to insult my intelligence. Always a great way to hold a debate!
