Can someone please tell me how? I've asked a number of GMs and they do not know and a guy in our party did it and I didn't ask him at the time because I didn't think it would be this difficult. Basically, when you inspect another player and mouse over their gear, there aren't any pop-ups hence preventing you from seeing the items.

More then likely they simply changed their saved outfit. To one with nothing. Shift +1-5
Press C on that screen there's a bar 1-5 that allows you to save outfits.
Unless you saw gear on him when you inspected and it said "anonymous" when you moused over it..then I dunno.

Was he from another server? Because during the cross server instance parties, you can inspect them, but can't see the stats of their gear.

Click the eye icon next to the "save outfit" icon.

cross server has a bug where you are unable to see any pop ups from gear
