Why follow the same route as all these other games, don't let open world PVP die. Instead of battlegrounds give us castles ! I really hope there are many people who agree with me and that these forums are actually looked at.


OMG!!!!!! Hahahahaha!!

Please remove this post, TERA needs more PvP and more BG for full PvP players, we hate PvE and the stupid dungeons.

I think the op was referring to a system similar to Dark Ages of Camelot before I left at least. That was fun times but we played in the BG's still too.. just gotta make it work our time. If guilds could own and retain castles or strongholds via a pvp system that would be totally awesome. I'm still gonna get my BG on to get better gear though. That's just how the markets gone.

I don't understand how people can have strong opinions about a feature of the game they have not seen yet. Perhaps it's a way to kill the time before Tera comes out?

I really hope that this nonsense will die out once the game starts and people spend more time playing rather than making up big issues out of thin air. What's worse is that enmasse is trying to make majority of the players happy and if a certain idea gains momentum for whatever reason they may go for it which in turn will mean that we will never get to see it.

Personally I have no idea about the BGs, but will support any feature that balances out PvP and PvE. If killing mobs for hours to no end and clearing up dungeons for gear is what you like - fine, go for it. But please allow for players who like to PvP the opportunity to gain XP/gear by doing what they like as well.

Battlegrounds are way more organized and are a lot more competitive since people have to coordinate the tactics is not like some dumb group of stupid lancers stand on Lumbertown's Bridge to knock out every damn person that is trying to play

Simple answer = Battlegrounds can be competitive, if they don't reward pvp gear.

Tldr version:

If they do reward pvp gear, then Bg's become a grind for afkers,botters,pugs looking for pre dungeon gear. In some games it was broken to the degree that dps meters in dungeons felt more like pvp then battlegrounds.

Pvp gear can't be rewarded properly vs skill, it winds up being a time grind and breaks incentive for pvp in alot of other areas.
I would prefer avoiding pvp gear completely. This hinges around there never being instanced raids with superior bop loot on a pvp server. If at some point we do see instanced raids with bop gear, a pvp counterpart will become a necessity. Since owpvp can be exploited so easily, it will be from battlegrounds.

From the perspective of owpvp:
It exists only if there is incentive to be in the Open world. Killing bams/mobs/owbosses all create owpvp, they cannot be afked and bots will be pked by outlaws. Gear coming from mobs balances incentive for owpvp vs bg pvp.

What battlegrounds will most likely cause:
Pvpers get battlegrounds in julyish - Pvers eventually get instanced raids - Pvpers don't want to raid in instances - Pvp gear is made equiv to raid gear - dungeon gear obsolete - pug/afk/bot bg spam offers more reward then anything else.

Battlegrounds + Instanced raids + Bop gear = Complete content bottleneck
Now wait in town for your Q to pop.

Cancelled my pre-order because they removed BG's from the start of the game. I'm not going to lose to massive zerg guilds with no skill. Not happening.

I'd prefer an arena death match, 5v5 over any other form of PvP any day of the week. I can showcase my skills on equal terms and on an equal battle field. Anyone who believes that zerg guilds won't rule OWPvP hasn't been part of many OWPvP games.

I disagree with taking out battle grounds. It is a great system to develop pvp gear and points. Only thing I would add is to create a cap on how many times you can run it so that people can not simply just run battle grounds all day long and escape the ow pvp. There should be a 3 or 5 run cap per day. This way it make it more fair for vanarch to be based more off of skill and how well your team preforms instead of well I ran it 200 times today and the 2nd place guy only ran it 4 times. If there is no cap then yes many people will do this all day long for the gear and will dissappear from the world for a week or 2 until they are fully geared up.

Also the gear should be based off of skill, either a point system based on kills or wins and not just a system that anyone even afkers could get points and eventually get gear.


Kind of like Aion did with Dregions and their ap point system.
