This works, untill someone is so "leet" that they have friends on alts rez farming, then the count goes way off.

If they can do it without that [filtered] then sure, always fun to see the "best" and go kick his/her [filtered]

There are already people who do this for the duelist title =/ Any duelist i saw this weekend definitely did not make me think they were a good PvPer.

And who brags about the number of honorable kills they have in WoW? That ONE guy who has over a million or something kills? Hes reallllly bad at the game, ask anyone whos seen him in a BG. Im impartial on the idea, i think its kind of cool that there is no way to track it. But maybe make achievements and titles for getting a stupid high number of them, then you could just use the achievement tracker to see how many you have. There definitely does NOT need to be a K/D ratio because that would make even more people hump safezones

K/D is stupid.

Honorable kill count isn't and people who measure skill from honorable kill counters = stupid, I just want one because I've grown use to having one around just for the sake of it, it's simple and fun no reason not to have one it's almost the norm in triple A mmo's these days.

(minus bad swtor who just finally added one LOL)

Most of the kids that play this game are probably going to be bad. In a subscription based environment developers recognize that bad players want to feel like good players or they will not continue to play.

Look at the instanced PvP in SWTOR - you get a "kill" for contributing 1 damage to a player that dies sometime. It is literally impossible to have a negative K/D in any Warzone in that game. This is to make bad players feel like good players.

W/L ratio for duels could be a decent compass for player skill level but people will exploit this as well obviously.

Maybe something "lifetime non-infamy gaining killing blows" or something will be included.

Not sure why people keep bringing up "skill" and counters = who is good or bad, that's all non sense.

I just want a counter for the sake of having one, you make of it what you will. :)

How about a counter for Killing Blows in GvG pvp? See who is doing the most work for a guild.

that's cool, maybe not a counter, just some sort of announcement. like a MVP badge in battlefield 3.

x defeated y

z was the most valuable player for x

Because in that case, JoeScrewaround, your annoying archer guildie, will simply hold for the last shot on that guy you did 95% damage to.

There's no way to show skill or contribution through a number because the numbers are -all- able to be fudged. This is why this kind of thing is utterly useless.

I only have an undergraduate in mathematics along with my civil engineering degree so I may be wrong but... A K/D ratio can't be negative. Even if you have killed zero people and have been killed 100 times... Your K/D ratio is 0:100.
In order to have a negative K/D you would need to attack dead players back to life...
But who knows, math may work differently in your town...

A Kills/Deaths counter, just for the sake of it and personnal info, yes. However, seeing how kills and deaths in pvp bring near to no disagreement atm, if any reward is tied to it, it WILL be abused, as it would be very easy to do (kill friends your lvl in turn, in GvG sneak in an alt to kill in opposing guild , etcetc)
