if a reward is introduced, that will overshadow and decrease the inherent drive to pk, which would decrease the amount of satisfaction pks receive while pking and therefore which would cut down on pking in general
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Overjustification_effect

so smart carebears would agree to pvp rewards

Lmao. no. DAOC was driven by PvP and the reward system. The main drive of a player in a RPG is to make your character better and stronger.. which my suggestion would accomplish.
People will still continue to PvP because they enjoy the competition and challenge. Your overjustification concept doesn't apply to every situation. Would you claim a paycheck given to a professional athlete decreases his satisfaction of the game and leads to his retirement? Give me a break. He started playing in the first place because he enjoyed the game.

"Why do people need to get something shinny for having fun?" - Jestergb, page 1.

But why should people only get "shiny" things for not having fun? There should be a little reward for OWPVP, like in WoW. Scale the battleground reward system's tokens or w/e they have and let players drop some points, similar to WoW. This doesn't encourage players to do nothing but OWPVP because the reward for OWPVP is much smaller than doing a BG or other PvP activities.

I love to OWPVP, but I don't want the player that I killed to think, "wow, that guy just killed me and he didn't get [filtered] for doing so, he must be a huge douche-bag." And with the current OWPVP system in Tera, this is exactly what every player thinks after dying. If they implemented a system that granted a small reward after OWPVP, the dead player would still dispise the PKer, but to a much lesser degree.

PvP rewards are necesary for the continuity of TERA, PvP players have not high end content, there are people who hate the PvE.

Only implementing a 10% ratting to drop a collectable token to change for armor and weapons we are happy.

Thanks.

The only high end content you need is BGs and OwPvP - that is content that never gets old. PvE dungeons get old as soon as you can beat it easily and then you have tons of boring gear farming runs to look forward to until new content comes out. One of the great things about PvP is they can create a good system and leave it at that, no need to give us new content every patch. And there are plenty of PvPers who enjoy the challenge of PvE occasionally, they just don't farm it.

Only one armor/weapon, lol nice PvP high end cotent, the PvErs have a lot of dungeons.

From what I've looked at in the PvP vendors there are multiple sets of gear, weapons, and accessories.

Imo a good PvP reward system that can be used in both OWPVP and organized BGs and GvG would help the most. BGs do get old.

I heard in KTera they just "trade wins" in BGs.

I don't think that will happen in our version because of open between guilds and with a random match system it probably won't be practical to give your win away expecting someone will give theirs away for you, but it is a way to exploit the current PvP gear system.

Anyway, I don't see why OWPvP can't reward the same rewards as BGs granted the average reward for doing BGs for 1 hour will be higher than the average reward for OWPvP for even 2 or 3 hours, but it will make people who want to get the gear faster do OWPvP and it won't force people who want structured BG style PvP into it. With a diminishing return system it wouldn't even be that hard to limit exploitation, especially if you give out 1 medal per kill and BGs give out 50 medals for 5v5 win (instead of 5). Of course prices will be scaled according to the BG reward scaling.

TL;DR Diminishing returns, BG reward earning faster than OWPvP reward earning on per hour basis, but you can do OWPvP as much as you want while BGs are limited (you have two 1 hour frames per day to do as many BGs as you can).

Antharaxsnax has illustrated in other threads (maybe even in this one at one point didn't check) that diminishing returns don't work they just change where the exploit happens. If you have 30 people in a Guild trade off kills starting with the first one that's 30 unique kills before your back to the first one all in short order. This instantly becomes the fastest way to get gear and the bigger the guild and better organized the faster they can be fully decked and crushing everyone else.

By the time you have enough diminishing returns/ safe guards to prevent this can you really enjoy the system anymore? is there even a point in having it? Numbers just means it becomes a way for Big Guilds to quickly outpace smaller guilds.

The only solutions are for the rewards to be frivolous or directly taken from the enemy that dies.
(personally I like the idea of crystals that would have broken on death are instead dropped)

Ok, then so all of you saying we shouldn't have rewards for PvP, lets just take away the loot drops for all the dungeons and BAMs and you just go kill them for fun and see where that gets you. So, your point is mute. We need rewards for PvP.

You HAVE rewards for PvP!!!!!! Just not for OW PvP, the reason for not having it for OW PvP is the players ability to exploit the system. Mobs don't give QQ tears when they die like players do in PvP that's why they need to drop loot.
