PvP...rewarding or just for kicks?

In pretty much every game I played seriously, pvp gave a certain reward - honour points, karma points or just shopping points that allowed you to equip special items/buy special items/etc. And occasionally debuffs/taking points/etc. How is it in Tera? Do I actually get anything out of pvping or is it just....there? Mostly talking about duels/pk...but pretty much any information would be appreciated.

As of right now, unless you count pride as one, no there are no rewards of any sort for PvP.

That could be changed when the game releases but who knows.

I personally don't like rewards for PvP because it causes exploiting issues. I pk because its fun to see how much better or worse you are than the other person. True pvpers will pk just for the hell of it...we do not need rewards.

The saddest thing is not the complete lack of any real PvP system but the knowledge that there will never be one here, until most have long since left the game at any rate. Good luck getting Korea to acknowledge or act upon anything for us, and En Masse is merely a translation house at its core (as most, like NCwest for Aion, are) so good luck getting them to do anything about anything either.

It's sad, but if you don't like the shape Tera's in now, you're just not going to like it for the long haul.

It's interesting, though, speaking of NCsoft, how Aion is going Truly Free to Play just days before Tera's OB pre-launch next weekend. Aion's huge 3.0 patch with the housing, cap increase to 60, re-scaling of the entire leveling curve and new mount system aren't even hitting the test server in NA, that's how much of a rush they are in to get it live. You can't tell me they don't want to cut Tera's OB launch off at the knees and steal their players away (most likely to get back at BlueHole for the theft of NCsoft's Lineage 3 assets).

I like the game. Very refreshing combat system. Optimized game play , barely any lag. But i wont be buying simply cause PvP is just tacked on. No penalty for losing , no benefits for wining. Permared outlaws ducking in and out of safe zones 1 shooting noobs , no exp loss on death , no chance on dropping an item off the kill. Basically not a game for me. And its unfortunate since the game looks amazing.

I've never done pvp for reward tbh. Its more fun to grab a pocket healer and go to town on people till they get sick of you and form their own group, Then you invite a few friends, and they do the same till its an all out war.

imo PvP is just for fun and i like it the way it is. :)

I got a bit carried away with CBT...but...if you are such hardcore pvpers why do you play a game that's obviously pve-oriented?

It depends how you like your PvP. For example I like my PvP organized, group or guild or alliance based. In order to have groups, guilds, alliances out there fighting in the long run, you have to give some meaning to PvP. Like fighting for holding territory, like it's in EvE, even in a smaller scale.

Ofc along with that, you should offer rewards in terms of gear, titles, etc. Bragging rights are still part of any PvP game, as it's the fun that comes along, but it's not enough imo. Some may want to pursuit "fame" by dueling and making a name for themselves doing that, but A LOT people are into PvP for group/guild/alliance based PvP. Tera and any other game that wants to offer a good PvP experience should offer the options I describe above and even more.

PvPing just to PK and have fun will not last that much, after all, I can do that in most MMOs, why shouldn't I move on (after a couple of months playing Tera, when the game won't feel as fresh, new, etc) if Tera doesn't offer me something more, like a more complete PvP experience? I think that I am speaking for more than just myself.
