Reflect damage breaking pvp

Well, I think damage reflect will still have it's place in group PvP. The biggest problem right now with damage reflect is that a single player hitting multiple opponents, all of whom have damage reflect on their gear, will cause the single player to kill themselves. That becomes exponentially more likely to happen in mass group warfare.

Personally, I'm surprised the damage reflect stat is still in the game, and hasn't been removed or tweaked. Battlegrounds are just around the corner, and I bet one of the biggest complaints will be about damage reflect.

The other big complaint will be from level 60's who don't have PvP gear yet, complaining about just how powerful PvP gear makes other players. Which is a valid complaint, that's what ruined SW:ToR for many players. Of course, EME/Bluehole learned nothing about how to properly implement PvP gear from that failed title. Poorly designed and balanced PvP is a huge reason for BioWare's loss of subs.

SWTOR was not the only game to do PvP gear like that. Basically every MMO in recent years has done it like that and people have always complained that PvP gear made the vets too powerful. WoW, RIFT, and Aion all come to mind.

Although RIFT did a decent job of making it easier for new players to get enough PvP defense to compete, at least when I played it. You could do BGs as you leveled and have enough PvP tokens for an entire starter set that had the same amount of PvP defense as some of the later sets. So your dps wasn't great, but you could survive well enough to actually play.

The whole resilience thing was an attempt to make PvE gear of marginal utility in PvE, but all it does is lock someone into either doing only PvE, only PvP or playing so much they have no time for anything else.

It'd simply be better to remove gear from PvP entirely and reward the players with unique ranks and titles, weapon and armor skins, unique colored weapon glows and the like, while allowing them to compete in rated BGs and arenas which affect leaderboard stats.
