I should have stated recent MMO. And gear did have an impact in that game also. I had several friends who played that game.

The main impact gear had in AC was in terms of what happened when you died.

For example, back when I played the GSA chest/legs set were considered the "best" gear to have. It wasn't because of stats (as the stats were pretty average).. it was because the armor was bound to your character and wouldn't drop on your corpse if you were killed. So it was preferred by pk'ers since it's 2 less pieces you have to worry about dropping on death.

But my point was if you didn't have "end game" GSA gear your character wasn't totally gimped and at a total disadvantage... you could still pvp in starter town equipment and be just as effective as a guy in GSA. And honestly some people might even argue that a starter town robe was actually better since you only had to buff 1 piece of armor instead of 5 with GSA and not have to worry about dropping your helm/feet/hands.

But whatever, it's all moot at this point. Tera's a fun game and all I just wish it wasn't so gear and numbers dependent.

It seems like most MMOs now are really gear driven. I understand where you are coming from, but unfortunately I do not see this trend going away any time soon. At least it becomes a little easier now with the Nexus release.

Agreed. But even there I'm disappointed to learn that I have to now grind PvE nexus event's to get PvP gear.. wut?!?!? I honestly don't get what these development teams are thinking. For myself I play these games purely for PvP. I could care less about PvE content. Why on earth are you making us grind more PvE content for PvP gear?!? Makes absolutely zero sense.

I had hoped that once I got 60 I would be free to finally focus on pvp but no.. I'm instead forced to grind more lame dungeons and now grind random nexus events for gear else be totally outclassed by people rocking full +10 tier 13 suits while I rock my lvl 59 story quest gear.

And maybe that wouldn't be so bad if the systems wasn't so dependent on time/gold sinks and pure fricking luck. Ugh. Its just depressing because the combat really is fun. I had such high hopes for this game but it's quickly becoming less and less enticing to log in each night as the reality of this end game grind becomes more and more apparent.

Hopefully they improve things as I'm subbed for a few months but I'm not holding my breath.

Well, It's either grind Nexus for PvP gear, or wait till they finally fixed BG's, with no ETA btw, and grind that when it comes out for PvP gear. We're able to get it MONTHS earlier you guys gotta give them SOME credit..

To answer your question, all melee classes have invulnerability moves. All ranged classes do not.

If you want to know the reason, its because they have to be 1 meter from bosses while ranged can be up to 19 meters away. Most bosses have close range aoe or swipes. Meaning its an important part of their role to be able to avoid damage since they can't dps from outside of attack range.

Except your bringing PvE into a PvP thread. And if you played any of the "ranged" classes you would know that, that range is an illusion.

Lets take priest for example a "ranged" class. Yet every single one of there attacks is in melee range.

Mystic? A DoT at range.

Archer... oh right they do [filtered] dmg at range...and have to be in close to maximize

Sorcerer? Oh right every spell moves at the speed of turtle aside from a few that can be dodged or blocked by anyone with an ounce of intelligence. Void Pulse (melee range) is the only viable dmging option. If you get fireblasted I cant help you are super fail.

While I believe there is some disparity there in skill required to play ranged vs melee. Dodge is not what is making Slayer over tuned. Its the combination of Backstab and Distant Blades both on relatively short CD's. If they had just Backstab it would be fine, or vice versa.

Please take the invulnerability out of slayer dodge, they are not Tanks and there is no reason for it. If you can not then please give invuln to every back jump or teleport ability to make it even. Can anyone even give me a reason why slayers get an invuln every 4 seconds?

Probably because they are the most fragile melee class in the game.
