Switching guildmasters during war?

Last beta when my guild got into a war, I switched my guildmaster title to one of my alts for the duration. Im a sorcerer, so I didn't want to be a big, squishy, ten point target in the field, and be a big liability for my guildmates. When I did it though I couldn't help feeling it was cheating a bit >.>

I couldn't help noticing that during all the wars we got into during CBT3 though, we never scored ten points for killing another guildmaster. Something tells me what I did isn't exactly an uncommon practice, so im just wondering what other peoples opinions are on this: Is it cheating? Or just a form of defending yourself?

in terms of honor yah its kinda cheating... however in terms of history and such its a common practice.

I've seen multiple posts about this exact thing, and it's pretty unfortunate if the developers allow this to continue. They might as well just remove the 10 points from the guild leader kill if you can just switch leader to an alt, or have a level 5 character be the guild leader permanently.

Just implement a check, if your guild is at war, your guild leader can not transfer leadership until in a neutral state.

They should also implement incentives for a guild leader actually participating in GvG, make guild leaders killing normal members worth 3 points instead of 1, so the guild leader is encouraged to actually go out and fight, instead of logging their GL character the entire duration of the GvG.

It cannot be cheating, since GM endowment during a GvG isn't disabled. It's more on the exploitation end. They could always change the GM promotion rules, so a GM cannot be changed after initiating GvG.

They need to make it so if your guild is at war, the highest ranking officer in the guild online at that time is the 10point target. So if the guild leader is offline, the next highest ranking officer is now the 10point target.

There is no way of getting around it then.

I know my guild won't be making this common practice. If we are at war, our leader will be online and taking part. We are not cowards. I know my GL willl be quoting "Come at me bro" quite a bit when people fail to get to him on the battlefield.

Just thought of something else. Maybe allow the guild leader to designate a Warchief/ Commander/ Warlord ect. So when GvG happens they can designate who there best is on the field and that is who is worth 10 points. I know in my guild, my guild leader isnt the military commander when we get into skirmishes, that's my job since I am able to multitask that way by giving direction and stil tearing up the field.

Appointing a Warlord would be the same thing as switching guild leader to an alt. 90% of guilds would just make a level 5 alt Warlord and leave it logged in the safe zones during GvG. I like the idea of the highest ranking officer online at the time being the 10 point target.

To expand on the warlord idea which I like. There needs to actually be a positive for sending out the person who gives out 10 points a death I believe the warlord, or whoever gives the 10 points per death, should also get 5 points per kill.

Just seems like an obvious thing that should have been in place since implementation.

I think to get around the whole people logging out as a warlord and not PvPing as it Jimmy's idea is great. It places the warlord as a target while allowing the Warlord to dish out as much pain as he can.

While having that system you could tie in the other system I mentioned as well, when that particular player is offline or on an alt the next highest ranking officer or guild leader is set as the 10 point target.

5 points maybe a bit much but 3 points sounds fair in my opinion. Its 3 kills by the leader or warchief or whatnot to get about the equivalent of their own worth. Definately rewarding being in the fight is a must otherwise there really is no point not to give it to some alt or just staying offline.
