What is the reward from open world pvp? (pvp serv)

So, I love pvp, and I'm rolling on a pvp server of course. I originally play Aion and in that game when you kill players in the world you get a special kind of point called AP, you then use this AP to buy gear / scrolls/ pots / etc. So far in closed beta and open for Tera, I don't see any point of open world PVP. Someone correct me because I'm pretty sure I'm just misinformed here, is there really no reward system for open world pvp? And if there was none for the beta's, are there any plans for the live game?

Personally I think it's pretty bad if there's no reward system for open world pvp, hopefully someone can shed some light on this topic.

The reward is knowing that you just kicked the person's [filtered] and you don't suck at PVP

If an MMO has gear (i.e. not GW1 where gear doesn't matter), the game needs to be designed to allow people to better their toon doing what they enjoy doing. The fact is, there are no rewards for pvp currently. This is bad because it will force people to PvE if they want to better their character.

The answer, "fun", is an excuse. "Fun" should be a given. I should be able to PvP all day long and not be undergeared PvP-wise versus someone who PvEs all day.

Yes BGs are suppose to have rewards, but OW PvP also needs rewards. Anyone who argues this logic, isn't very logical.

The reward system is as follows:

Crush your enemies
See them driven before you
And hear the lamentations of their women.

This is only an idea that is prevalent since WoW. In every other game before that you had to grind PvE to get good gear to have fun in PvP.

Grind before fun. Makes sense to me, if you just mess around all day ganking people you don't earn much. Honestly OWPvP is so imbalanced giving rewards for it would be abused so badly.

Why farm anything else if I can just go gank people who are leveling and roll over 1 or 2 people with a group of 5+ and get rewarded for it? Heck why farm that even when me and my friend can just go out of town and trade kills?

OWPvP rewards arent a good idea. The incentive to pvp in the open world is to kill people you hate. That is more than enough reward.

Well, from what I've been reading the rewards will only be in the battlegrounds. If the developers are smart, they will limit the number of times you can access/queue the battlegrounds so open world PvP won't die.

With that said, the reward should be satisfaction that you just kicked someones [filtered] and came out alive. What they should do is have some high level items/mats that spawn on certain bosses out in the open world where they are attackable at all times. In dungeons too, where at anytime can be at risk of being attacked.

That way, people that want some of the top notch stuff have to go to those locations and fight for them in a pure chaotic situation. I think all new MMORPGs should take a few notes from how the original UO used to work, regardless of all the money/subscribers WoW has/had, UO is still imo, the best mmorpg of all time until the devs ruined it.

But even after the devs made UO carebear/gear based, they at least made them travel to felluca to do the champ spawns/harvestors to get the good loot and we were still able to PK them. But the game was almost dead at that point.

I understand what you are saying, but honestly, i want a pvp server. Many pvp'ers see PvE as a necessary evil... I have a job, why do I want another? I like the concept of MMOs, but on a pvp server, it is possible to take the "work" out of the game. You can still advance your character, you just dont have to be forced to do a lot of the stuff you dont like (pve).

A well thought out pvp ruleset can allow for OW PVP to be more than just running around ganking. But honestly, my opinion is the best pvp is instanced pvp. Ive said this before, but just make instanced pvp more like owpvp.. by having different objectives throughout a large map. the instance allows for talent and coordination to prevail (rather than numbers) but you still get the random, unanticipated, uneven battles. (but if your in an ineven battle your teammates may be outnumbering someone else somewhere else on the map)
